My Droid has me within 6 feet consistently. The CacheMate program was an easy choice, as we have used that with our PDA.

I use my Motorola Droid exclusively for geocaching. My Garmin Summit is collecting dust since I got it. I haven't had much trouble yet with tree cover. In clear skies I have a consistent +/- 6ft accuracy.
I use C:geo for casual "wonder what's around here?" caching and GeoBeagle when I am working on a specific cache. Both are free both are great.

I also use an app called GPS Status to enter coordinates for things like Multi's and Mystery caches. Not sure if I need to do that or not, but it's easy enough.

My droid came in handy when I didn't have a pocket query loaded for an area last weekend... but I would go on a pre-meditated caching trip without my Colorado.

A phone is a good back-up, or secondary tool, but I don't think the accuracy, or durability holds up for full time caching.

Glad you figured out how to make it work for you though!

Is that a cache in you pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
...Darn. I was hoping it was a cache...

We also have Motorola Droids. We use the C:geo as a backup. It's handy when we are in the field, and want to read additional logs, etc or check current status if we haven't updated what's loaded on our other Garmins. I don't think we'd rely on it for everyday use, due to reception in remote areas, accuaracy, etc.

It also works great if we get a notification and want to try for FTF and we don't have our Garmin handy.

does anyone have the new Evo yet? i'll have one by the end of the week and was kinda wondering if anyone has taken it out for a test drive yet... not just for caching abilities, but overall.

there are two motivations in sports... which one is yours?
