If anyone is working on a geocoin design, even if you want to keep your design a secret until you submit it, please post a note in this thread so we have some idea that there are some submissions coming. Thus far, no finished (or unfinished) designs have been submitted to the submissions thread. The BOD listened to the 'do you want a 2010 geocoin' poll and decided to mint one. Now we need your help in the design. We had great ideas come out of the contest in 2007 and I know there is talent out there.
It doesn't need to be artistic talent either, coming up with a great idea is talent too. If we can match up an idea with an artist, the skys the limit.

Thanks Pete.

Please submit finished (or any unfinished) design ideas that you would like considered for the contest vote to geocoin2010 at wi-geocaching dot com. They will be posted to the submission thread for all members to be able to see the submissions. All you have to do is email the design image(s) as an attachment in an email. We'll handle the rest.

Remember, even if you just hand draw the design and scan it in, we can work with that to produce a geocoin. The Wisconsin cow geocoin design contest submission was hand-drawn.

I intend on adding the NE SE SW and NW.

The colors can change so any suggestions would be helpful

The back would have the rest of the requirements:

Trackable at GC.com
Date

Hey ZB,

I'll give you an "A" for effort for this (Laughing) but check your (homework before you turn it in) Idea compass points for "East" vs West" or are you going to school out east now Exclamation

I do like the design.

I am playing with a design. If there is anyone out there that would be interested in giving a hand with trying to clean up my idea with a computer design I would appreciate any help Smile. I am good with drawing, not so computer savvy. I believe my color pencils will not do the justice to this design that a computer design would.

My idea is:
Front of coin:
State outline in gold, State in green enamel, rivers and lakes in blue enamel, 3/4 of a compass rose in the lower left corner with the year 2010 to the right of the rose just above the bottom edge of the state, across northern Wi "Another Day, Another Cache" <two lines, an arch in gold from Douglas county to Manitowoc county with an engraved sun, to make it look like the sun is rising over Wisconsin, the edge of this arch will have engraved "Wisconsin Geocaching Association"
I think the idea of having the arch over this N, NE area of WI will eliminate the possibility of Door County being broken off or having it snag other cache items while still keeping the integrity of the state making it easily identifiable. Please let me know if this idea will fit into the parameters you are seeking.
Back of coin:
State outline in gold, State in Green enamel, (Rivers and Lakes in blue enamel - maybe), the edge of the gold arch will say "Trackable at Geocaching.com" and there will be an oval where the sun was on the front to hold the tracking number, there will be a mosquito in gold over northern WI, a human figure in gold-arms and legs extended across western WI, with the words "Deet Me" <in two lines along eastern WI and maybe even a golden bug spray can with two or three streams being "squirted" towards the figure.

I will keep playing around with trying to make this idea look presentable unless I hear from someone with some computer talent Smile.

Thanks in advance Smile

Hmm... I like the concept! I really like the idea of having our state bird on the back and "Deet Me!" is too funny.

I'll take a stab at it for you and see if it matches your idea. It might be a couple of days...

TBC - FYI, koolma_k sent me a hand-drawn scan of their design. I can forward it to you.

I'm out, too much like what I was designing. I like it ZB, Can you change it to geocaching instead of geocachers in the orginizations name? Or did we change the name when I wasn't looking? wink

Well, it's the Wisconsin Geocaching Association coin were talking about. And that's the name of this orginization.

If anyone wants to fly with this idea, please do. I have the idea, maybe the talent Very Happy but not the time.

I see compass rose designs all the time, I'd love to see a coin that actually had a compass in it. Even a clear window compass would be better. I'm not sure what the cost differential would be or if it would make the venture less profitable. I personally would pay more for a functional coin.

There's the idea if anyone wants it.
