In my original post about the stickers, they were not meant to be a money maker. Maybe someone should contact MiGO and see how they do it as they give away <<<<GIVE AWAY these, not sell them, and you do not get just one, they give you 5 of them with each order. I would have done more leg work on this if I made it to the BOD, but now I have committed my extra time to other ventures (Fire Dept and Ambulance Service) and just do not have the time now.

Just want to state that my original intention of the stickers was not to sell them, was to print them and give them away. So what if its at a loss to WGA so are the mini pencils for caches, Its all publicity.

I was trying to get something uniform to stick on caches for law inforcement and the like to be able to recognize a geocache easily.

Do you really think anyone is going to buy a sticker at a price of a buck or two and put it on a film can that is worth a half a cent with a piece of paper inside that is even worth less???

Sorry to vent here but its my .02

Before there's a big push to increase revenues for the WGA, there should be some thought given to how much additional revenue is needed and what it will be used for. When I served on the board (back in the dark ages of the WGA Smile ) we had money in the bank and we had to search for worthy causes to spend it on. Not sure if that's still the case today.

Good point. The board did pass a budget at our last board meeting, and I will make sure that is posted where everyone can see it.

I think once you look at it, you will see we are spending a lot of money to promote geocaching in WI this year, including line items for these items:

1. 6 CITO events -$900
2. Support of the West Bend Cash Bash Mega event - $200
3. WGA pencils - $400
4. WGA cache container stickers $500
5. WGA brochures - $100
6. State park series of caches (we hope) - $850
7. Server update -??
8. LCG event - $100
9 Winter event - $50
10. Our usual campout and picnic expenses
11. WPRA $225

That is mostly from memory, so look at the actual budget for details.

Regarding Naes comment-sorry I dont know how any other group handles there shirts besides Cafepress, it is just my belief we can do better both in value and revenue. One suggestion off the top of my head is do any of the trade schools offer a printing class that could print product.

Regarding Zumas comment on the possible revenue-Sorry you got me confused. From things that have been said over various threads, we made nothing from CafePress last , and per the Board meeting minutes we made $200.00 for the sale of shirts. This tells me the income from shirt is based on what Tie was selling at the camp out last year. So by bumping up the price a bit we would just be only making X, we would be adding it to additional revenues.

Food for thought (please correct me if I wrong) Tie sold shirt for $15.00 per shirt unless you needed a bigger guy size, which I believe was $2.00 more. So for me alone $17.00. CafePress, $14.99 for the shirt (up to xl), $3.00 more for 2xl plus. So I am at $17.99. Now if this I think proves my argument because at 99 cents more so what, nobody will complain about the buck. However you have to add $5.25 for shipping, so the $17.00 shirt the WGA sold sells for $23.24. At that difference I aint buying

Regarding the stickers, yes they will add income but first we can not be sure how much. Secondly I dont know that people will buy them for use. After all Groundspeak sells stickers for ammo cans and in all my finds I think I have seen less than 25 of those stickers, granted I dont see many ammo cans either. BTW I dont mean to sound negative about the stickers I actually like the idea.

Good points. We are going to refer the questions related to stickers, pencils and shirts to the membership committee once that committee is up and running.

Brochures have been referred to the community education committee, which is making good progress already on that issue.
