So yesterday, me and MommaCache decide to make a afternoon of caching after the big storm passed thru Clintonville. I was excited to get back out and get a few I had missed or had to leave when I got into the last storm.... So I dumped my caches into the Venture HCx and dropped all the cache information into the Palm Treo from cachemate and off we go in our haste....
Get to Bonduel and are having a great time... find the first five easily... and then while cruising to the 6th... ding, ding, ding, beep. Palm's battery dies and shuts off... dang I forgot to charge it and now we are without the cache info....
Get to a cache I thought would be a simple find... (GCYNN6) BMW Tech Cache.... and head down into the woods... starting to loose daylight fast...and then after wondering around looking under every stump and log for a hour.... Ding..beep. GPS battery gives out....
I sat down and a nearby rock and laughed my head off.... the gods of electricity were playing games with me Man I felt pretty foolish....but hey...at least I could laugh...
Found two other caches with my lady (after finding a couple batteries int he glovebox) and decided it was dark and we were both HUNGRY so we went to dinner and had a good laugh about our luck
Keep looking under the rocks....

Glad you could laugh. We have learned to have spare batteries in our pockets along with our pen. I also learned to carry a spare memory card for my camera....sometimes a person can forget to pull that thing out of the computer slot after uploading pictures! Just sayin'. Is all.

I usually care a spare set of batteries in my pocket. Roger on the other hand, usually doesn't. Last time he was out caching alone, he fofgot to take the extra set of batteries I told him to grab and his gps died. He then used the nuvi in the car to get about 8 more. I also carry a set or two of the lithium batteries in my geobag and then I have a couple sets of rechargeables in the charger which I try to keep in my geomobile. I don't want to be without batteries!!!!

Think of all you learned. I think most of us have some pretty interesting technology failure stories. Glad you could laugh and make the best of it.
Well in honesty... I had a freshly charged set of rechargeables at home and thought I was ok for the GPS... hahahaha
The Palm Treo on the other hand, is a older cellphone that I converted over to use for paperless caching (phone part of it doesn't even work anymore). It is wonderful for caching info.... but I only have a wall charger at home... no car charger... so when that went dead....it's dead til I get home and charge it again...
Spent time after logging my caches this morning scouring eBay... looks like I can get a car charger for the Treo for about $10 --- hit Buy it now--- wait a couple weeks... and that won't be a problem again
