Just curious to the year lonley caches, is it one year or one year and a day to get the double points?
I had gotten 2 caches exactly 1 year to the date from which they were last found, and applied for the points, but only got single points, not double.
Im not whining, just curious for the next time.

Well the rules state "greater than one year" which to me would mean ON the anniversary date. My theory is that one year is 1/1 - 12/31. The following 1/1 is a year + 1 day according to all normal calculations and therefore should count for double points. |

Thanks for the topic MuggleB, this is a point that is a little open to interpretation and the discussion here can help the game admins to be consistent in the ruling.
a year or a year and a day. what does "greater than a year" mean?
365 days or 366?
let's look at Birthdays or anniversaries. Each Birthday or anniversary I have occurs on the same date each year, so I would consider this one year, the day after my birthday, in my honest opinion, would be "greater than a year".
CJ in your idea of 1/1 - 12/31, I see your point. I would also wonder then if 1/1 is day one or day zero.
This can be a really grey area and in all fairness, the players of the LCG will need to weigh in on this and help to make a decision. The admins can only go on what their interpretations are unless the community can assist in ironing out these grey spots. |

It says "more than a year" but I don't recall if I used to wait for a day after the anniversary or not...uh...not that I ever really paid attention to that kind of stuff you see...
Anyhoo, how do we know whether a cache last logged as found on 1/1 was found at 12:01 a.m. or 11:59 p.m.? So the next 1/1 finder is either more than a year or less than a year...or something...One year should get the bonus points. So a 1/1 last found cache, gets the points the next 1/1. Makes sense. Ya???
Interpret any rules broadly, after all it's just a game for fun. |

I would say the spirit of the rule would be that finding it on the 1yr anniversary date since the last find should qualify for the bonus. It's all a game right? |

For what it's worth (which is not a lot), I looked back and we did play this as "a year and a day" last year: GCWY3J. Doesn't matter to me either way though. |

I make the following motion (for what it's worth).
"Greater than" shall include the anniversary date. |

I argued for that as well when told more than a year was 367 days instead of 365 plus one. That's what I thought when it first came up for me to consider. I second that motion. |

I enjoy getting the caches on the 1 yr aniversary date, kinda neat to be there exactly one year from the last visitor. Thats to bad if you can't get the points for that. JMO |

While I was very tempted to invoke rules 11a and 11e, I changed the rule to read "1 year or more" instead of "more than 1 year" (2 year rule changed similarly) since that was how I was trying to enforce it anyway. As someone has recently been helping me with processing logs, he was enforcing the rules as written, so we can't blame him for that. Everything is good again, go back to finding lonely caches! |

Thanks for the change in wording Dave. That washes the grey away.
MuggleB I see that the LCG pixies have returned your missing points too! |

This whole "update" just seems to have gone too smoothly. Can't we at least debate and argue for a few more days.
All joking aside - Great job to the admins for taking action on this one and using good judgment and not just the letter of the law. So many things in life get tied up in the technicalities and it's nice to see the "intention" win out for a change. |

not that we even play the game but if you look at a day count 1/1 to 12/31 is 365 days, 1/1 to 1/1 is 366 that would be more than one year. But then what happens if you find it on Leap Day, (Not this year anyway, but you should have a special point scheme for that) |

I do like rules 11a and 11e though.
Glad it worked out. |
