Not really, all you have to do is take your thumb and index finger, stick out your tongue and pinch it between the two fingers.

I am impressed by the list of salaries. I thank those hard working people for providing jobs for 1,000's of Wisconsin workers. I also thank them for involuntarily donating about 50% of that money to the state and federal government via taxes. I have said it elsewhere before if you extremely punish/tax the production of the private sector "Atlas will shrug".

Please post a picture if you have one, but not one of those oversized ones. That would be gross.

Thanks for the levity both of you. I am about the least political person I know...but this whole situation has really gotten under my skin. I cannot even imagine what this feels like to folks who are steadfast Republicans or Democrats.

I do my best not to follow politics anymore, but I don't see how taking away bargaining rights is going to save the state any money. Give the gov workers what they're asking for. Make them pay the proposed increases but leave them their rights Mr. Walker. That way you get the money savings you're looking for, they get the right to negotiate down the road, and if you negotiate well Mr. Walker, nothing will change. But they'll still have the rights they want, even if they do them no good. There, everyones happy. Laughing

Keeping any union talk out of it, taking away the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES bargaining rights now means he doesn't have to deal with the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES in two years when the next bugdet is drawn up. He can simply cut anything he wants and the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES will have to take it. Can you say eliminate the pension fund all together or increasing the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES contribution in chunks until they are paying the full amount?

Regarding the top 56 salaries, it is a matter of perspective. That list is sad. I'd love to see 100 or even 200 guys on that list. The only ones that have a legitimate gripe over those wages are the owners/share holders.

If you don't like Harley, go buy a rice burner and see what that does for our economy. You want to raise the corporate tax for Harley and open this pandora's box again?

"On April 29, 2010, Harley-Davidson stated that they must cut $54 million in manufacturing costs from its production facilities in Wisconsin, and that they would explore alternate U.S. sites to accomplish this. The announcement came in the wake of a massive company-wide restructuring, which began in early 2009 and involved the closing of two factories, one distribution center, and the planned elimination of nearly 25% of its total workforce (around 3,500 employees). The company announced on September 14, 2010 that it would remain in Wisconsin."

Raising taxes has consequences. Elections have consequences. If the sky is falling, like you predict, the pendulum will swing the other way.

Two words: Corporate Blackmail. Many of the major corporations have threatened all sorts of things to obtain some sort of benefit from government agencies.

My cynical self is telling me that this whole bill is an excercise in greed, both individual and corporate. Add Governor Walkers political ambitions to the mix, and we have a real disaster on our hands.

Here is another small detail from the SEC filings:
Harley Davidson executive salaries were $7,182,028 in 2008 and totalling $9,970,088 in 2009, a 39% increase!!! There was a change in CEO in 2009.

What was the result of that massive company-wide restructuring?

You must really be waiting for April 15 to come around! I started to read it but my daughter had to return it to the library before I could get too far into it.

In the grand scheme of things, this is minor, but WTMJ 4 news just reported that the new estimate for capitol damage repair is $350,000. Still quite a bit, but a far cry from the $7.5 million estimate from yesterday. Just sayin'...

Didn't know about that. Who's playing John Galt?

You probably wouldn't recognize the names of any of the actors/actresses.
John Galt is Paul Johansson.

I hope it does the text justice. I need to say, read the book. When you finish it, pick up a copy of 'The Fountainhead' you will not be disappointed.

Read them both in my younger days-Atlas Shrugged twice, I think.

That's the cost for gov workers to fix it. I'd do it for half that. Very Happy
