We're going to go caching in June with a couple that have never cached before but are enthusiastic about trying it with us. They are into hiking and probably would not like park & grabs. We'd like to take them to an area that would have a fun hike in the woods with caches that are medium to large sized. On or off trail either would be fine. Preferably within 30 minutes of west/northwest Milwaukee area. Any suggestions?

I've done most of the caches out at Lapham Peak State Park and I enjoyed them. It's so pretty out there. Also, the Kettle Moraine State Park in Eagle has quite a few that involve hikes. I've done a couple out there but am definately going to do more soon.
Good luck, I hope you get some more converts to our addiction.

Ryan County Park in Waukesha County. Eleven caches and most are regular size. A puzzle, two multis and no micros. Wide trails through oak forests and prairies with a great view of Pewaukee Lake from the highest point. This is an undevelpoed park other than the trails. A favorite of geocachers who have been there. I'm a little partial because most of the hides are mine, but they are all well maintained and won't dissapoint. Even beginners can probably do them all in 2-3 hours.

I agree with Mr. Greenthumb. His caches hidden in Ryan Park make for a fun few hours.
