I'm trying to find a way to display pocket query results without all the other caches mixed in. I'm pretty sure it used to work this way, but with the new "beta" maps I can't seem to find a way to turn off the non-pocket query caches.

I have a PQ that lists all my "Solved / Unfound" puzzle caches and it would be nice to see the visual of where my "high volume" pockets are. With the new maps this is a mess to try and see when it spans the entire state of WI.

Click on the PQ you want to see, so that you see the little 'lightning bolt' icons. Then go into the Legend section at left, and start turning off the various filterable cache types. This should just leave you with your PQ caches displaying. Hope this works! Very Happy

Here is the way to see it the old way and the thread on GC dealing with the want to see it like that again.
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=274785&st=0&p=4749026&hl=pocket%20query%20beta%20map&fromsearch=1&#entry4749026

And here is the direct link to the comment with the workaround method:

And if you can run GSAK, just map it using a macro from there.

Perfect. I thought maybe I was just having a "CJ" moment. I've voted to get this "fixed". I also have an interim solution which really helps.

I do run GSAK and also have a couple of other mapping apps available. The trouble is that this requires me to generate the PQ to a file, download the file, and then load it into some other application. I actually have the "Solved / Unfound" bookmark PQ download once / week to keep my GSAK database updated so it's not that bad. But as a paying customer it would be nice to have the old functionality back.

The "preview" function within gc.com is adequate for the quick check and takes a minimal amount of time for the quick check of the data.

So what is your ultimate solution?

Using the manual URL method listed in the GC.COM thread.

Code:
http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx?guid=[Insert PQ GUID Here]

In IE you can get the GUID by right clicking on the PQ name on the PQ list page. A window with the URL will pop up and you can copy just the GUID portion from it.

I'm actually building a custom HTML page with my common PQ's on it. That way I won't have to rebuild them on demand.

I was hoping that was the soloution that you were looking for. Great that I actually had an answer and it came from trolling the GC threads!
I like the idea of a custom page for that, and yeah, I may "fake" run the pq several times before I find exactly how I want it and that's what I miss.

Favorites / Bookmarks (whatever your particular browser calls them) would also work in place of a custom HTML page. I happen to have many of my common links on a custom HTML page which is my homepage making it extremely easy to access these.

I almost hate to ask this, but did you look at the standard PQ page? There are icons to the left of the pocket query listing. The first icon "previews" the PQ in a list, which second "previews" it in a map. I find this very useful (much better than the beta maps method.) Of course, who knows how long this will be available?

Yes, but my preview in the map takes me to the Beta maps with all the other caches mixed in. I use this "preview" feature extensively, but since the switch to the beta maps, it's been a real pain in the backside.

As noted above, as a quick & dirty approach, you can remove all non-PQ caches in the beta map, by deactivating them in the legend section, on the left side of the map.

The problem I've had with this is that the little balloons for the PQ stay, but then you can't tell what the cache type is because you've disabled the icons. The upside is that it is a quick way to see just the general location of all the caches.
