MEGA pancakes?

What do you think, pancake breakfast could be a MEGA event next year? It is already over halfway there at 260ish! Surprised

I dont think the golden spatula will be enough for that many pancakes. Just might have to get a silver and bronze one to help out.
We would also have to get the gallon size cans of peanut butter. Those little jars wont last long.

Remind me...how many people are required for a Mega?

Yes, 500 or that it could get close to 500. When we had this many registered our first year with the bash, we knew it would go MEGA the next year and we got our icon.

I wonder what it would take for the WGA to piggyback the West Bend event with a Mega event of its own? The people are in town but how would we get them to stay for the early morning event vs going back home? I know I'm pretty fried after two solid days of caching.

...and would we want to have a Mega event? What would be the payoff? We might be able to get a few more donations but how would we spend the money if we got it? Would we hold more events? Volunteers are hard to come by to support that. Maybe just better events....

Maybe just to have bragging rights...has another Association held a Mega Event?

...Were the WGA event to expand or offer something unique I'd likely stick around or return...but again what would the payoff be to the WGA? Clearly there is potential for something big if we had the desire.

We could always ask, but I'm not real hopeful. These types of piggyback events are controversial at best, and there is a lot of animosity about how people create multiple events to encourage number padding. (I'm not talking about the WBCB specifically, just multiday events in general.) Me, I kind of look at it as a "meh" thing. If someone wants to pad their numbers, I really don't care, just like I don't care if someone spends all their caching time running between guardrails and lampposts. Some people are still hung up on the value of the numbers, however, so Groundspeak might not want to "poke the beehive" by making an associated event a mega.

Oh, wondered how that worked. Since they are so different. Hmmm interesting perspective on it. I did not think about anybody "gaining" anything per say - just stating that it would be kind of fun if they hit MEGA status - that's allotta pancakes to flip!

Evidently stacking of events in one area is OK with groundspeak as long as only one is a Mega Event. See GC2V68Q for 12 events in 4 days in one area.
