Delorme?

Does anyone use them? I have 2 PN60's and love them. I have had all the new Garmins and still stay with Delorme. Is there something missing?

I have one, and wouldn't part with it now that I know the ins and outs of it. I've really started to abuse mine both outside and software wise and it is holding up!
The only thing I wish is I'd be able to do the chirps or whereigo's just to be able to do them standalone without a group, but the mapping ability of the Delorme makes up for the gee whiz stuff.

Should also add that I saw a ton of Delormes at West Bend this last weekend so they are getting more popular I think!

While they are getting more popular, the Delorme's are still vastly outnumbered by the Garmins. I really like my PN-40 and I know for a fact that it way out performs any Garmin in just about any catagory.
I don't usually brag about the superiority of Delorme products because it always ends in getting shouted down by the Garmin minions.
Doing wereigos would be nice, but chirps are kind of pointless.

A little on and a little off topic:

Has anyone used the SPOT Satellite Communicator feature? Have considered getting the PN60w because of this feature, as we occasionally end up without phone communications.

Or does anyone use some other means to accomplish this? Thanks

Us being a Garmin loving team I was originally looking at a PN-40 but didn't have the chance to play with one. Now with the 60 out I'd like the chance to check one out in the field not in the store cause that would be pointless. But like TB said the Chirp is pointless I was not impressed with it at CB. If you get to many units around it don't work. As far as whereigo's yes it would be nice cause there are a lot of great one out there. I know the Pot would be a great addition to my collection since I'm in the woods a lot during hunting season and to be able to check in with the family would be great

I know on the snowmobile sites that I follow folks love the SPOT, haven't heard of anyone using the combination of the two yet.
As for the chirp I followed along and was unimpressed with it so that's not a big deal, but whereigo's would be a big plus, but I'm sure if I look around I could find the phone app for that.
Sandman, I saw you at the Bash, if I'd have known that I'd have let you play with mine, there is a big learning curve, but the abiility to do so much with it really offsets it once you learn how it operates.

Not to make this a chirp bash thread hijack, being a committed Garmin user myself, but I too was not impressed with it at the CB. I was with a fellow Garmin user and we had our 550s searching for the chirp and only one unit could successfully download the info, while the other would fail at about 20% completion. The nice thing was is that the Oregons can send and receive info to one another wirelessly, so after my buddy got the chirp info, he sent it to my unit and that worked perfectly.

That's an item I wish it had was wireless transfer from my phone or computer, I think some of the Garmins have bluetooth don't they? That'd make my life easier when traveling outside my normal range although with the ability to have loads of files in there it rarely happens but this past weekend I was close quickly to being out of the pq range.

That would be another plus for Delormes. There is no practical limit on the number of PQs.

If you have more than one unit searching for the chirp they will interfere with each other. Notes were posted about this and it is on the cache page. Once there are more chirp caches around and there will be I think more cachers will be aware of this.

1000 in memory with full descriptions, hints and logs.
The number of PQs (up to 1000 caches each) is limited only by the size of the memory card. A 2GB card easily holds all of the caches in the state.
