Finally made the switch to an Android phone, and debating whether or not to purchase Groundspeak's App. There are other apps out there, most free (e.g. c:geo) , but really wonder how anyone can beat Groundspeak's app, in the long run. There was a thread several month's back that got into this discussion, but thought it would be good to see how things have shaken out over the past several months, and solicit thoughts on where things are headed.

The question is not whether to get an App, but which App to get.

Any thoughts, experiences, suggestions and/or recommendations will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I have had it since December. If I do not have one of my Delormes I use it and it works good. It was $10 but I think it was worth it.
Thanks

I've been using it for the past year and I like it a lot. I rarely have problems with it. But then again, I bought it before I discovered c:geo, which is free and also works great. I am not quite as familiar with it because I usually just use the app from the groundspeak. I also tried using geo Beagle (I think that was the name) and Cache N Go and found both of them very confusing. I really like using my groundspeak app for spontaneous caching or if I haven't gotten my GPSr updated in a while. The satellite image can also really come in handy sometimes!

Thanks for the insights and advice! Tried using c:geo today for several 'Park caches', but got off to a rough start. Always a learning curve, here compounded by trying to navigate the new app, and the new phone itself. Had 'preloaded' and 'sat viewed' the caches before going, as we knew what we'd be going after. The compass told us where to go, but the distance was sporadic. Sounds alot like the gps issues in the other thread by sandman. Probably geocache app independent. Ended up using the map view for this run. Have now loaded in an app that provides a detailed view of the gps state.

Tried logging with the virt. QWERTY, but fat fingers make "." look like a very tempting log to send........the 'dark side' of logging is very tempting No
