There are 21 scheduled obstacles that include 3 mud pits, two hill climbs, a water slide, tires, cargo nets, sugar cookie sand mound, water crossing, log rolling, wall climbs and all kinds of other obstacles. Don’t be surprised if we add a few more. You are going to get dirty!
The course is designed to be challenging but doable for everyone. There will be a bailout section for any obstacle if you are uncomfortable it. In particular there is a planned water crossing. That obstacle will have a clear bailout section that will allow any runner to skip the obstacle and run around the pond to the next obstacle.
The distance is approximately 8K (4.8 miles). There will be a "shortcut" for those who want to get back to the beer tent first. It will be after obstacle 17 above and will cut off about a mile. You will NOT be eligible for awards if you take the short cut and we can’t guarantee your friends won’t give you grief for it.
How does the course compare to the Dirty Girl of Tough Mudder. The Lake Country Halloween Mud Run is set right in the middle. There will be more obstacles, more mud pits, more dirt and the course is about 1.7 miles longer than Dirty Girl.
Its shorter and less intense than the Tough Mudder. You won't have to cross fire, carry any logs, crawl under barb wire or get electrocuted at this event. It is about 1/2 the distance of the Tough Mudder.
The course was designed by a former US Navy Special Forces instructor and as such the obstacles are designed to be challenging but safe.

This looks pretty cool! So is walking truly acceptable or would I be scorned? |

Where are you hearing this cuz I need to get the word out to the person who is running this event that there is misinformation out there.....or maybe it's me who is misinformed?
Here is what the website says:
Registration
Registration is available right here right now. If you would like to register race day you can but we cannot guarantee a custom Lake County Halloween Mud Run shirt and it sure makes our life easier if you preregister. Besides its cheaper!
We are ready to go. Our vendors are ready to go and our sponsors are ready to go. Even you are ready to go but we just can't take reservations yet because we don't have our final permit. BUT ON SEPT 2ND WE WILL so get ready for it......
The text does seem contradictory though. |

I posted it onto facebook, so what ever friend told me well, they will be missing out. I can use the warrior dash as training for the lake country mud run. |

I have two races this fall as well...this will be the second one. The first is The Rockman Challange....which also looks like a blast. http://www.rockmanchallenge.org/Home.html |

Nice, I am exhausted thinking about that challenge, I believe it would be the hopping across the finish line that would probably be my shortfall. |

I agree about the Rockman chalange, and I have been thinking long and hard about that part...I see myself...HOP, HOP, HOP....rolllll, HOP, HOP, HOP...rolllll....it's 100 yards; I think it wont be pretty. Of all the parts of that race that is the one that bugs me the most...I know I will excel on the kayak and bike, suck on the run and be average everywhere else...but the potato sack jump....that just seems so wrong to do to someone. |

*Bumpity Bump*
My team name is "The Crazy 88". I'm lookiin forward to getting muddy. As of Friday there were over 300 people registered....the expectation is to get over 1,000. Next year look for events to be located all over WI and the year after that possibly nationwide.

We are considering this one, but wanted to make it through Warrior Dash first. Then decide. |
