We recently purchased our 2012 state park stickers, a bargain at $25 ($12.50 for the second car at the same address). Bought some as Christmas gifts, too. A current WI annual sticker gets the vehicle and its occupants into all state parks and properties (unless indicated otherwise), all year long.

Looking for caches? If you have a state park sticker, you can drive right into the parks to find a whole bunch more. Want to camp or enjoy trails and scenery? Same thing. Want to climb the new stairway at Roche-A-Cri State Park when it opens in the spring? Have a park sticker on your vehicle and you can drive close to the start of the climb.

We're sharing these photos taken by park personnel recently on the new stairway. There is still a lot to do, but it's coming along nicely. The first one is a shot down a long stretch of the stars, and the second one is a close-up of the construction. The stairs themselves are brown metal treads.

There will be an opening ceremony in the spring that everyone can attend. For those of you who were at the 2010 WGA picnic at RAC and bemoaned the stairway being closed at that time, make plans to visit the park this coming season! GC1A56A and twenty-some other caches are in the park.

I have to wait until April when I'm 65 to get my stickers next year. $10.00 if you are 65 or older. We'll have to stick with the free areas until then. There are some benefite to being 65 I guess.

I agree, total bargain. I buy a state and county park pass every year. Way cheaper than buying a pool pass for my kids and we get to go to much better places! Come to think of it, I suppose the last few years I've also bought a National Parks pass too. Think I like visiting parks?
