I'm a huge fan of mine. I encountered one glitch early on though... it wouldn't search for the next nearest cache. after updating it, I haven't had any issues. over 200 caches found with it already. |

yeah, found it doesn't search by GC number very well either. And the search by name has to be the name, not part of the name. I like it so far. Need to get out and really put it to the test. |

Four ammo boxes and one pair of ice cleats. I guess we had better go hide some more regular size caches. |

My Garmin Etrex Legend died this fall and although I was comfortable with my sons Etrex, my wife surprised me with a Garmin GPSMAP 62s. It is sitting in its box...anyone know anything about this model...is it a keeper or should I return it and get something else. Thanks in advance for any replies |

Definitely a keeper, one of the best out there. The Garmin GPSMAP62s is what I use - it's great! Garmin has more or less three top-of-the-line GPSr's. There's the Oregon, which is their top touchscreen unit. Then, until this summer, the GPSMAP62 was their top pushbutton unit, with slightly superior reception due to it's exterior antenna, and then this summer they introduced the Garmin Montana ($$$), which is similar to the GPSMAP62s but with a higher resolution screen and a few more bells and whistles. |

I can't wait for my Nuvi 205 to die so I can have an excuse to get a new Nuvi with free lifetime updates. My maps don't have the Peshtigo and Oconto bypasses on it as well as other recent construction work.
Maybe I can "accidentally" leave the Nuvi on the roof of the car, have it fall off when I pull away, then "accidentally" run over it lol |

Read the "fine print" for the lifetime maps options. It includes a line something to the effect of "while the unit is supported". Typically for an electronic device this is 2-3 years so it's really a short "lifetime". Great marketing though. |

That a fact? I was at the W store and saw a lifetime updates card for $100 or so. I thought for that kinda money, might as well buy a new device.
My Nuvi is on its last legs anyways. Power switch is broken. The only way I can turn it on is to plug it in the charger. To turn it off, I unplug it from the charger and either press the button that says "Turn off unit? Yes" or just let it count down the 30 seconds for it to shut itself down when unplugged. |

Sure is, but still a good deal. My 205W is 1.5 years old and I'd love to get a map update, but can't see spending 60-100 when I can buy a whole new unit for about $100 including the lifetime updates.
See the following: http://www.garmin.com/us/maps/numaps_lifetime
| Quote: |
| ¹If you purchase a nüMaps Lifetime™ subscription (sold separately or bundled together with certain GPS models), you will receive up to four (4) map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on Garmin’s website, for one (1) compatible Garmin product until your product’s useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter. |

I got a collapsable shovel that folds down to the size of the blade and has it's own travel pouch for carrying in a pack and a microtorch for melting out those frozen caches or torching those bad caches.

Make sure there are no pressurized cans in them first! |
