Thanks again to the forces behind the curtains that make the LCG available to the rest of us. You all do a great job giving us this as incentive to go out there and have some fun. Your efforts are truly appreciated. |

Thanks to the PTB behind this long lasting endeavor. It's really weird to see caches back on the list that we found several years ago.
Still wishin' we coulda claimed year-unfound double points and the FTF bonus on those Sailor Jerry caches...that woulda been sweet.
I know, I know, no whining! |

Thanks TBC, for continually serving up a great smorgasbord of tasty Lonelies, as well as keeping the gears lubed and running smoothly! It's all very much appreciated, and really does bring a uniquely-rewarding aspect to the Wisconsin caching scene. |

Still learning and still curious!!! Can someone tell me why caches are on the Jan/Feb list that were found in April 2010? |

Because they qualify as being in need of a revisit by a cacher, to see if they still exist. The LCG Administrator decides the cutoff date to get approx. 500 caches on the list. Once it is on the list, it can be claimed by anyone finding it for the next 2 monthes; not JUST the first to visit it.
Some of the best caches in Wisconsin are Lonely!! |

So if it is on the list for Jan/Feb, the finder will only get double points IF they haven't found it before and IF they wait until exactly 1 year or more from the last find date to find it? |

Yes. And I believe it's 366 days between finds. A few cachers watch some of the high D/T caches and intentionally wait for 1 year! Of course, they have no control over another cacher ruining their "best laid plans"! That's part of the 'game'! |

I think we've been down this discussion road in the forums before...the verbiage says "1 year or more" so I thought the interpretation was 365 days, just like any other one year anniversary...feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. |

My main interest was finding out why a cache was on the LCG list when it was found less than a year ago.
Now I understand that a cache doesn't need to have a full year of being unfound before it gets put on the list but can be added sooner to make the list the full 500 count. |

I believe it has to be at least 4 months without a find before it shows up on the list. Caches stay on the list while they are still active and until someone finds them. It's a great way to keep things "current" in the whole state and preventing stale (or those in need of repair) from just lingering. The 1 year mark makes it double points which is the "lure" for us LCG hounds.
I agree with Jim though. There are some great caches on the list. I've even added some of these to my "bucket list" over the last couple of years even though they've gone off the list at some point.
The best thing is that everyone that visits within the 2 month timeframe gets points for it. It's not like a FTF race where only 1 person / group gets the honors. This is one of the most appealing aspects to me and leads to same great friendly rivalry. |

Yup, GR is correct. It is one year to the date. (ie. Feb 3,2011--Feb 3, 2012) |
