I have climbed my share of trees, traversed down my share of cliffs, trudged through some pretty deep swamps and have been caching in areas with bears. I don't think I have done any woods with serial killers, though. In all of those instances, I was well aware of the danger involved and took precautions to be safe. You have one person to watch out for and that is yourself.
Stop signs, on the other hand, on busy highways with vehicles flying by at speeds of 55-70 mph - I cannot control if some driver is texting or not paying attention and goes off the road right where I am grabbing a film cannister out of a plug. So in my humble oppinion, this type of hide is more dangerous. I do think you are accepting a greater risk with these stop sign hides than climbing a tree.
Of course, the greatest risk I have found is trying to walk on boardwalks in nature centers in the winter! I almost seriously hurt myself falling off one of those! I think that was a Muggle B hide! |

Lacknothing couldn't be more correct...on being boardwalk challenged. I lost her once and saved her a second time. She's been diagnosed with LAGPSIS. (www.LAGPSIS) Looking at GPS instead of Surroundings. |

Every boardwalk should have railings to keep unsuspecting people form falling off boardwalks. A petition has been started. |

All I know is that the weather has been really nice, cool enough to still wear pants and not get my legs cut up, not many leaves are on the trees yet and few if any bugs. |

I would say they are equal not more. Accidents are accidents whether they are on a roadside or on a cliff or tree.
Whi;e I'm not saying stop sign caching is my favorite, I would rather watch out for traffic then fall off a cliff or out of a real tall tree.
That same "texting kid" could hit you head on while you are driving to your next cache location (whether that's a state park or a stop sign).
Either way, risk is risk. If you want to be safest, stay home and watch TV or play games on your phone. |

Logging virtuals and D5T5 caches in Indiana. The tough ones, I "forgot" my pencil. |

Finallysomeonesaidit!!!
Stop ridding your couch and go caching instead of labeling the others out in the community!!!
Maybe you are afraid of getting hurt as you might get hit by a drunk driver, tree branch, rock, or even drown in the swamp,
but as you sit back behind your electronic blanket party you might want to think who you are verbally abusing because someday the blanket might be over you....
PS: I did run for the ftf's out on april 1, 2012 and I saw 3 cars total and non ran any of the stop signs i was at.....FYI

Seems the echoing 'OOOOOOOF!!!' we heard back by Arrowhead Park, many months ago, came from a certain Slippingadventure, not Lacknothing. You funny, Sensei! |
