This thread is intended to allow members to share their thoughts, opinions, likes and dislikes on how the game is being played and to offer suggestions on changes they would maybe like to see in the future.

Please keep in mind that this poll and thread is informational only and not binding in any way. The WGA Board of Directors will make every effort to accomodate any recommended changes to the LCG game, but any final decisions will be made by the BOD and will be based on available resources.

Thanks for starting the thread and poll f1rebirds.

Lcg is kinda like the show Whose Line is it Anyway, where everything's made up and the points don't matter. That's right the points are just like everthing else when you own a Porsche or Garmin in our world.

Whatever we are doing seems to be working as another group I belong to recently setup their own LCG and worked with and copied much from the WGA administrators.

Although we don't play as much as we used to the rules appear to be unchanged over the past several years and are working fine as is.

Often copied, never duplicated.
Even our LCG logo has been stolen at least once.

There's a logo? Shocked Cool!

Or is it that sad-looking ammo can? Sad
(Not sad, as in pitiful, but sad as in lonely.)

I'm in for some tweaking such as a removal or adjustment of monthly winners.

Also as my caching life/priorities have matured/changed and I find myself not getting my logs in as quickly as I used to.

I won't be able to make the gathering on 2/2 due to work (I will be spending the day caching in Belgium hopefully), so I thought I would leave my comments here.

1) Suggest changing "Rule(s)" to "Guideline(s)". I've provided the wiki defintion of a guideline below. Guideline(s) are not as strict as rules and as such the administrators of the game would be allowed to make decisions (currently Rule 11b) using their best intentions and judgement while still allowing Rule 11a & 11f to apply. wink
Quote:
A guideline is a statement by which to determine a course of action. A guideline aims to streamline particular processes according to a set routine or sound practice. By definition, following a guideline is never mandatory. Guidelines are not binding and are not enforced.

In my opinion the administrators of this game are doing an awesome job. These people have a passion for maintaining the integrity of the game and providing some fun for the rest of us. Even though I haven't been playing as much lately do to other time constraints (family, church, etc.), I am glad to see this continue. I have cached in a few other states and nobody has a program as good as ours to keep caches fresh which makes me really appreciate our program. All in all, I think it's a great program with very minimal changes required.

It's been interesting to see some of the big point getters change over the years as peoples personal lives change which changes their priorities in life. It's also great to see some new players enter into the fun each year. There's also those "regulars" that continually rack up the points year after year which just amazes me.

I am greatly appreciative of all the work that goes into loading the cache lists each month and the assistance provided to those cachers who need help when they enter a cache rescue without claiming the points first (I have been made this error on multiple occasions), as well as all the invisible aspects of the game that I am not aware of but am sure take people's time. I see a balancing act of how long it takes to log a report while still encouraging people to get out and check on the lonelies so I am in favor of keeping it as is. It is nice to have a fresh scoreboard each month so I can have the illusion of doing well early in the month before the hardcore players rack up the big points. I look forward to being able to put faces to the names I have seen at the event on February 2.

I'm having a hard time casting my vote. I haven't encountered any problems personally, I think it's a fun game and runs well the way it is. But then again, if there are members who have noticed little things that could be updated I don't think there's any harm in some tweaking. As someone who plays board games regularly I have to say that it really is best to play by the rules to make things fair for all.

And on a related note, a big thanks to all who put their time and efforts into running the LCG!

I feel the LCG game is a very important part of Wisconsin Geocaching and I truly appreciate all the effort that goes in to the continuation of it. I own several caches up north, three which are on the Lonely list with others that may follow shortly.

Any activity that encourages people to visit any seldom sought caches including my own I applaud!
