Hello fellow geocachers,

Let me start out by telling you a bit about myself. My name is Kelso for those of you I’ve yet to meet. My fiancé Kelly and I make up Gonzakel, we’ve been geocaching since early 2011. I’m a manager at a local GameStop and a Graphic Design student at MATC in Milwaukee. We reside in Slinger with our pet hedgehog Olive. In my free time I enjoy cooking, designing, reading, camping, and of course geocaching.

How I got into geocaching is sort of a funny story. One night Kelly and I we’re bored and searching Netflix for a good movie. We finally just picked some random movie on our recommended list called “Splinterheads”. As the movie progresses the girl jumps off a ledge at a park into water, diving down to retrieve a small waterproof box. As she reaches a ledge and beginnings to open it while explaining to someone what geocaching is, Kelly and I both just look at each other like we both know what the others thinking. I reach for my computer and we start researching geocaching. I was amazed such an activity existed and I had never heard of it before. It sparked something wonderful geocaching became part of almost our every day or at least every weekend. Spending time out on the trails or trudging through the woods because we happened to take the long way has really brought Kelly and I closer too.

Over the past year in particular geocaching has become a passion of mine. I cache as much as I can whenever I can. I’m constantly reading the WGA forums and keeping up and what’s all going on around our state. I love photography, I’ve even started keeping a blog of my photographs from our geocaching adventures that can be seen at: geocachingadventure.tumblr.com

I’d like to bring a younger perspective and face to the board this year. I’d love too see more younger adults involved and activity geocaching in our area. I’ve noticed when we’ve attended events in our area, that we are usually the youngest group of people there, who isn’t a family with children along. I by no means have any issues with the way things are. I’ve met some great people along the way that I really respect and look up too within the geocaching community. I would just simply like to see our group of members grow and branch out even more.

Also, I’d like to see improvements in the merchandise designs within the WGA Store. Being a Graphic Design student I feel I could be a strong assets to us in this area. The WGA Store is a big contributor to the WGA’s funds and I feel the more we can offer the easier it will be to sell the product. Not only just designs would I like to see improved, but also I’d like to see more of a variety in merchandise that is sold.

I want you to know that I take your kind nominations very seriously. I took a lot of thought into the decision to run for the board. I promise if elected to do the absolute best I can to please each and every one of you and make sure your voices are heard. I look forward to your questions over the coming month.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope to serve you on the board,

Kelso Gonzalez - Gonzakel
