Is anyone else reveling in the fact that "having" to find a cache is no longer an issue? We did cache the previous two days and went out to place one today, but it's so nice not to "have to." (As if we ever did!)

Found caches one day only so far this month. Asked Vicki if she wanted to go out to dinner last night. As we got into the SUV she asked how many caches are involved. She was shocked when I said none. Passed on a chance for four ftf's today close to home. Plan on doing some hiding this week and maintenance, but no finding plans right now. Most of this week will be enjoyed stalking our grandkids on FB now that they are back in school. First day of kindergarten for Ryan, first day of HS for Evan and first time driving to HS for Emma.

I just checked on the log stats on the recent logs page, and there was no drop from Saturday to Sunday, either globally or in Wisconsin. With yesterday being a holiday, the numbers were actually up. There is a significant drop-offf for today, though, but that is most likely due to the holiday/summer being over and the back-to-school thing.

So people are still caching, but are they keeping their streaks alive or are those anti-souvenir folks back in the game? Wink Us? We didn't go every day, but we did go on a day we liked the souvenir. Now we just go when we have the time and the weather is nice. Haven't been out in September yet.

We only cached 6 days in August. Proof that we have incredible self control. Thought it was a fun concept though.

I'm relieved it's over. I don't like caching because I feel obligated. I like caching because I want to!

The only reason I had the streak going as long as I did was because I wanted to find caches in each of the new places we went to in France (and other places). I haven't found one since we got back... too busy looking for a new geomobile and officiating.

I did place a new puzzle yesterday...

It's no secret that I thought the whole 31 days thing was stupid and watered down the coolness of souvenirs. Besides for me to have done this would have cost me about $80 in gasoline; I'm not in a cache dense area.

Assuming I found every cache on the first attempt, doing the closest caches to me would have me driving 418 miles (round trip) and burning about 21 gallons of gas....not worth it to chase down watered down icons.

Less than $3 a souvenir - a steal or maybe not!
