I'm not a facebook user anymore, but if this is the same one someone pointed out to me a few months back, I was pretty surprised at it....and recognized a few people who were listed as "liking" the group. Are any of your puzzles on the site, peach? (No, I don't plan to sign back up to get them...I enjoy figuring those things out for myself!)

So far only one that I know of..............but I haven't checked the site either. I guess this guy was permanently banned from gc.com. He went by the name Tucson Thompsen but now uses Top Hat and Monocle. Wish gc.com or FB could stop him but I doubt anything can be done. What a jerk.

Sadly, when the address is posted to this guy's FB page, it's being promoted for better or worse, and more people will probably flock to it. It's a shame that he gives blatant coordinates rather than only providing hints and nudges.
Sad

And unfortunately, Facebook doesn't have a dislike button.

But it DOES have a "Report Page" Button.

However, he is not doing anything illegal in Facebook's eyes so they won't do anything. But if enough people hit the "report page" button, would they do something?

The guy is a turd nugget for sure. However, the people who go to the page and take the coordinates without doing the actual solves are just as much turd nuggets as the original turd nugget. Both sides are equally unethical and in poor taste.

I glanced at the page to see what you were talking about but I have absolutely no intention of liking the page or exploring it further. That's dirty.

Strange as it sounds, this doesn't bother me. We all know that there are plenty of people out there that openly share puzzle solves. Just like those that only log with a TFTC, there's not much you can do to change the behavior. Technically they aren't breaking any guidelines / rules, so it is what it is. It's interesting the few people appear to enforce the actual rules (i.e. how many hiders actually verify signatures and delete finds accordingly) but complain when people don't follow perceived etiquette (i.e. sharing puzzle solves).

I have also been caching with my dad on a few occasions for some great father / son time. In many of these cases, he was "given" the coordinates by me so we could go caching together. I like puzzles and skip many traditionals and he just enjoys finding them and getting out of the house for some exercise. Certainly qualifies as a gray area and a bit different that just giving them to the masses, but ...

As a puzzle placer this used to bother me. I've come to terms with it and just realize it is what it is. Most of those that share the coords also log a TFTC which shows it's just about the numbers for them. If they enjoy that, then great for them and why should I hamper them.

As a puzzle finder, I do my own homework to solve the puzzles. I have a number of "tools" in the box that are used on a regular basis to help solve puzzles. I've even received coordinates from others in the past, but never logged a find without solving the majority of the puzzle first.

Just my opinion and your opinion may vary.
