Gram and I turned loose TB's last winter. Hers took off, and has piled up 9000+ miles. Mine lolly-gagged and languished in WI and made little progress. It has been logged in a cache just into Michigan since being dropped there in May.

Today I started emailing to those who've been to the cache since May (four total, all in Aug or Sept). I'm told my TB is not there, that the cache is well hidden and not very accessible, not likely to have been accidently found, etc.

I'm really bummed! I know this has happened to others, and is not too rare, unfortunately.

I thought I could change the status to something like, "Whereabouts Unknown", but have not been able to find the place to do it. Any suggestions?

And if any of you stumble across "Grandpa's Canoe" TB, a red 5" or 6" canoe, with a TB tag and mission card, let me know, eh?

Thanks!

Grandpa Jim

We were wondering the same thing about several jeep TB's that we have moved along. Someone has picked them up but never logged them. Now the icon sits on the page and there is no TB in the cache.

I had a bug disappear last year. If you go into the bug's home page you can list it as missing. Click on the arrow next to the line "Recalculate Distance." It will open the window and you choose "Mark the bug as missing." When the page is opened after that it will show the bug in an unknown location.

Yeah... I had my "Walt Disney World Express" disappear a couple of years ago from the first cache I put it in. My other three railroad "express" train cars made it to their destinations though - so it wasn't a complete loss.

I had 4 tbs and I think only one is still around. 2 went missing practically right away in Illinois, so I would try not to leave any in that state. So, I'm kind of giving up on owning any tbs.

BUT, a couple of days ago, I found out one of my caches has been taken--that really bummed me out since I had stocked it rather nicely. What is the matter with people who do these things?

More reasons for "members only" caches...

we had a tb go missing this spring in minnesota it only went 4 miles and 2 caches then gone, we are going to start another in place of it with the COPY tag, hope this one doesnt dissappear. hope you find your tb and it stays out of minnesota or the milwaukee area, there it just gets hidden in a bug hotel that no one can ever find.

I've released 4 geocoins. Two didn't make it past their first cache. Another didn't make it past it's second cache. Tenner has the last one. At least I know it's safe for now.

I have to wonder, will anyone actually release one of the new WI geocoins? I'd say not, if they are smart.
