Astro D and I cached in the Wisconsin Rapids - Stevens Point on Friday. On the drive over we took some back country roads. Along one of them we came upon a flock of some 15-20 turkeys crossing the road.
We slowed down to watch. They hesitated, then proceeded to trot down the road in front of us. After a few minutes a few went off to the plowed field on the left, and watched as we drove by.
The rest continued trotting down the road. After about a 10th of a mile, a few took to the air, and eventually flew off into the trees. Another 10/th of a mile, and a few more took to flight and into the woods.
This left a lonr turkey, still trotting determinedly down the road. After about a quarter mile, it finally veered off down a farmer's lane.
I can only imagine all the squabbling that went on afterwards!

It will probably come as no surprise to anyone that this is not the first time that I have been called a turkey. |
