Is anyone else having trouble getting on the Geocaching.com website?
I've been having a heck of a time trying to get connected to the website. I keep getting the "server too busy" message. Last night I was trying to review new caches and it took over an hour to review just one. I could get connected once in a while, but other pages would then lock up.
I wonder if the nice weather has attracted more visitors to the site, or if there's a problem?

Among other things, there was a database problem that required a reboot. People were reporting that PQs were being generated without logs
Hopefully they'll get this all ironed out. I've gotten used to the site being slow in weekends, but not during the week... |

They have been having lots of service issues lately. About every other time I try to log in I get an error screen. Also dropping bugs has been an issue; it has not been letting some people relieve the bug from their inventory..... |

This is really frustrating. It's been a bad week for the reviewers due to the huge amount of caches submitted this week. I have very limited time to devote to reviewing this week. All my free time is spent screaming at the computer because the "server is too busy"
I'm thankful that wga2 (Tie) was able to help me out during the week. Thankfully he was able to approve caches while the server was still working (I hope).
If anyone is waiting for a cache to be approved, you could be waiting a long time |

Thanks to both our approvers. We know what a big project this can be (there's been lots of new caches published lately). We appreciate all that you do!

Thanks Bec, I agree and was thinking about posting the exact thing. Sometimes my fingers just don't make it to the keyboard. As irritating as it is for users of the GC site to deal with slow or interrupted service, it is worse for the reviewers as they have the added pressure of wanting to get new caches approved in a timely manner. Here's a big thanks to the reviewers! |

The servers at GC.com have been a little bit temperamental lately. What I have found, is that if there is a problem, just wait for a little while (a minute or two) and try again. I think I saw something somewhere about the servers having to "refresh" or some other such nonsense.
It would appear that once in a while there is a problem, unlike the normal weekend slowdown. |

Definate slowdown, especially on a Sunday late afternoon. I would get the Servy too busy comment. I got a "Geocaching down for maintenance" the other nite. I see there are a few new items showing up under the Cache page, like the "Send to Phone" option at the bottom of the navigation box. They must really have to expand to keep up with all the influx of caches and info. |

i always think it is worse when there are a lot of events and people logging all those finds. i waited until monday to log my stuff from the weekend geoegg thing. and yes, i did have trouble dropping bugs. i also hit that server down thing yesterday. i really wish they could get a separate server for the paid members. it would make it just that much easier for people to fork over the measly $30 a year. |

djwini has a point about memberships. However, if you look at the cachers logging finds, almost all of them are premium members. Even those with say 50-100 finds. Looks like a lot of people are antying up the membership quite soon after starting. |

We hid five caches this week and four of them went through within a day or so. But the puzzle cache has been sitting. Do those take longer, or did it just get missed? There's no note on the page or anything saying something is wrong... |

In general puzzles and multis take longer cuz the reviewer needs to do a bit more to check the details and placements. |

Hi,
I have been having a lot of trouble logging onto gc.com for the past week. When I submitted my new caches, it just ate them, so I had to rewrite them several times. After a few lost writeups, I learned to cut and paste before hitting submit.
I also had trouble grabbing a coin. It logged the grab, but didnt add it to my inventory. It took a day before I tried again, and had to grab it again.
I get the feeling that the popularity of the website has grown beyond what the current hardware can support.
