The "PDA" shown on the logo, looks alot like a Garmin E-map to me.
I own one, and for an older GPS, it works VERY WELL. |

It does look like the Garmin eMap ... I love my eMap (especially with the optional yellow rubber enclosure ... but I agree it's a bit dated as a logo ... accurate to the "sport" but a bit low-tech looking. |

Have seen some awesome logos from other states. Any good drawers out there? If I had the time, I'd love to submit some ideas! Have to see what I can do, just for the heck of it. Who says we have to have just one either! Could have a cartoon style a more childlike and a formal. Hmmm creative juices flowing now!

We've not been actively working on this as other items have been in the forefront. However we would always welcome design submissions.
I think we can all agree that the present logo has served our organization well over the last 5 or 6 years. But as the WGA grows and changes, I believe the logo should reflect our growth and change.
Any submissions are always welcome.

Shape of Wisconsin, divided into the GC.com color quadrants, with a compass rose on it? A big ol buck with an ammo can in its rack? Dunno. Just getting ideas out there. |

It has been noted in the past that the logo may be due for a face lift. There were a couple of ideas submitted at the Feb BOD meeting. The key here is simplicity. We want it to say Geocaching in Wisconsin. Let's see some Ideas. |

Ya know I sure do like the look of the back of the campout coin...or is that the front....the side with the state on it; maybe in green (and gold)?

IMHO, I would rather not have a WGA logo based on the geocaching.com logo. What if they change their logo, does this mean we need to change ours? What if their logo starts including copyrighted elements like Signal the Frog (that we can't use)?
Another question to ask is whether we want the logo to mean something to non-geocachers... I am not sure if this is important or not. The current logo may suck but it displays the three things needed for geocaching (public land, a GPS, a container). Would non-cachers understand what the four colors and the black X are for in a logo like the Maryland Geocaching logo?
There was a pretty big discussion on this topic on the new WGA website/forums between our beta testers... based on the informal poll we took, most (>70%) agreed that the logo should be changed/refreshed but other things (i.e. campout planning, etc.) were much more important and should be given priority over the logo change.
And here is a design that Bunny FuFu (Anne) came up with (hopefully she is OK with me posting it ):
