with more budget cuts for the milwaukee county parks, wouldn't it be a great thing if the WGA could sponsor and organize a once a month, or once every couple of months event to help out? only one park at a time, rotating thru the different parks. we probably wouldn't get a lot of people at each, but even 5 or 10 would make a lot of difference to the area. and the publicity would be great.

That would be great, but why wait for the WGA to do it?! Each of us is just as capable of hosting an event ourselves. Why not have members of the WGA body do it? Since you brought it up, looks like you're first. Let us know when you get the plan formulated...if you plan it, they will come! Very Happy

County park workers are unionized. Management is overworked and operations are underfunded. If you will attempt to coordinate anything with the Parks people, be prepared for a low level of enthusiasm. (been there).

Arrow Sue Black is the head of the Milwaukee Parks Dept.
Arrow Ms Black used to be head of Wisconsin's State Parks and Recreation program until she got maneuvered out.
Arrow Didn't Ms Black like the WGA when Ken Braband and Brian Jensen were talking with her about state geocaching policy way back when?
Arrow Maybe there's some leverage?

I organized a WGA CITO event in Milwaukee Co. parks along the lakefront in 2004. In that instance, I worked with Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful as part of their Great American Cleanup Day events. They were very accommodating towards us. We had a good turnout of geocachers. I wouldn't assume you'd be turned down by Milwaukee Co. Parks. Go for it!

I don't think you need special permission to pick up a piece of trash Smile Milwaukee Parks are in a budget crisis and I'm sure they would appreciate the helping hand.

If you know a spot that needs attention, it would be nice to host an event. The main obstacle would be disposal of the garbage. Might need to check with the park to see what they want done with larger quantities.
