Very surprised due to fact that not only words are worse but the WGA letters show typical Raster effects during resize.

Vector not rastor.
That will clear up the logo as it is resized. |
It was vector when I resized it. The Impact font just doesn't look very good at small sizes. |

Can you make the state go from lager to smaller and back while it rotates?

At Dave's request, I split this topic from the one about putting WGA logo graphics on cache pages and put it in the Suggestion Box forum.

After seeing it both ways, I agree that your original idea (no connecting lines on the 'G') looks the best. Sorry for doubting it.
RE: Vector vs. Raster. Not sure if having a vector version of the graphic buys us much when it comes to creating a small version of the logo for the web... you have to convert it to a JPG or GIF at some point. A GIF may look cleaner and be smaller in size than a JPG in this case. But whatever logo we decide on we will want/need a vector version (Encapsulated PostScript, Adobe Illustrator, etc.) for another reason... having this will allow us to print arbitrarily large versions of the logo, such as on a t-shirt, banner, billboard ( ), etc.
Let's see some other WGA logo ideas! |

I like it too. My only recommendation is to make the outline of the state bolder. It seems frail and out of balance with the boldness of the WGA letters, and may disappear in some small applications. |

To clarify ...
I like the spinning logo ... but only for the web page.
For t-shirts, it might be best to go for the non-spinning version ... maybe it's personal preference, but I hang my GPSr around my neck and would hate for the lanyard to get tangled in the logo. |

EWWWWWW! Please don't use the flashing, blinking and rotating one! It reminds me of an overdone Christmas tree. You know the ones. Big bulbs and little ones. Multi colored lights that blink. Too much garland and fake snow.
Lets keep it simple. The logo is perfect without all the movement and flashing. I suppose it would stand out a bit more if ther was some sort of animation with it, but it would need to be simple. Maybe just put in an ammo box (inside the state) with an opening lid and a log pops out or something? I'd do it myself but I'm not that good with gif's yet. Text I can do, pics well... |

I think both logos have merrit ... when you log in for the first time you have to pass a brief "humor test" ... those that pass get the static log, those that fail are for ever doomed to see the iritating moving/blinking monster. |

It's not bad, but before everyone goes too nuts, if the "board" is going to vote on changing the logo, I think TWO things should happen first.
1. They should realize that it's not just their decision whether or not it should be changed. That decision belongs to the body of membership.
2. If there will be a new logo chosen, the ENTIRE membership should be allowed to design one. Then the designs should be opened up for a vote.
(I didn't see where the WGA BOD actually said they were interested in changing the logo at this time. I do think though, that if there were enough interest in doing so that they would have to take it under consideration... After all...aren't they here to do what's best for the members of the association? If the association wants it, then... Also, if there is enough interest...someone...anyone just needs to make a call for new designs and we need to move on it ourselves. ) |

Well if we put the spinning logo on a hat it could also be a fan and cool us down on the hot caching trips through the Gauntlet. |

1. Actually, it IS their decision. They are our elected decision-making body.
2. I agree. But again, opening it up to to the entire member is also up to the board. |
