Today I had 6 coins and bugs to log after the WGA Geo-picnic. That's when this idea hit me. When you goto the TB tracking page to track one, you have to put in the number of the bug. Then, when you get to the TB's page and click to log the find, it makes you put the number in again on the tracking page.
Is there some way for the system to recognize this and auto-fill the number since it just had it the page before? |

Not a bad idea, but, unfortunately, you picked the wrong forum to suggest it.
Go to the geocaching com forums. They have a forum for suggestions for website improvements. I don't know if you frequent other online message boards normally, but you will find the GC.com boards to on the "snippy" side. Be sure to have a thick skin when you post. |

My experience with these kinds of boards is that the best way to handle a suggestion like this would be to come up with a consise post with a few examples and reasons, post it, and let others get into the heated discussion about the ups and downs of it. |

I have only posted there once or twice, though I read through them frequently. I agree with you on the BBS attitudes there too. That is why I thought to post it here first and see what "the locals" thought first. |

One reason it may be set up this way is because you can use two different numbers to access the bug's page - the 6 digit number on the tag (which you are using) or the database number that starts with "TB".
If you have only the "TB" number, you can see a bug's page, but not log a pick-up or discovered log. For the website to do what you want it to do, it would have to "remember" some how which number you used to access the bug's page. Maybe this can be done somehow - I have no idea.
Does that make sense? |

My computer remembers previously typed information when filling in blanks, so I don't have this problem.
Of course, I also have a Mac.........

My computer does the same (PC) but only in places it's already been typed before. PC's aren't smart enough to realize a user might use the same info in two different spots. |

Usually when I log a TB, I will type the number, then copy and paste it to the next log page. It saves a little time. Just an idea to help out. |
