Has anyone, besides me, used Goggle MAps or Bing to fiddle with the cords on a cache they are going to publish? Just to make sure they line up with whatever beacon has been chosen?

Always, 100% of the time! We use a Garmin GPSmap62S and take a waypoint average reading (our Oregon 650 is too unreliable for accuracy until they do a software update to correct it), then always consult Google maps and sometimes Bing maps as well.

Great question! Smile

Now if we could just get some hiders to do it! My Garmin Dakota 20 has a Waypoint averaging choice but I still check.

I always check the maps myself before I activate the page for submission to the reviewer.

I once had a cache show up on the page about a half mile away from where it was supposed to be due to a typo in the coordinates - oops Smile So I'm glad to be able to have the option to look at the map first before I submit it.

Lesson learned - don't place a cache on an overcast day.

My newest cache was found to be about 60 -65 feet off the mark so I had to go back there and update the coordinates.

I placed it a few days ago when the skies were overcast. I'll know better next time.

I would of though you would of had better accuracy with you phone???? wink

I drove through Spencer yesterday. Is that near you?

Yep.

So is that where you teach and/or live?

And congrats on 31 years. That is awesome. Did you get married when you were 10?
