I forgot to add.. the state on the front would be POLISHED gold while the rest would be antique or satin.

With 10 day left before the deadline, I am pleased to announce that your WGA board has authorized a prize for the design that is chosen:

One limited edition two-toned 2005 WI coin
Two copies of the 2007 coin

Now I want to say something to everyone. The design that CinemaBoxers has posted is quite nice, but I don't want it to intimidate people away from posting their ideas. We are looking for a CONCEPT and the more we have to choose from, the better. Like I said earlier, the art you post doesn't have to be great as long as it conveys your thoughts adequately.

I also want to say that we very much appreciate all the work that people have done on this so far. We have some great ideas and I hope we get lots more!

Agreed! I love seeing the designs posted - some EXCELLENT ideas!!!

I've seen a few where I wished Id thought of it myself... Razz

The colors are translucent with textures underneath - EXCEPT for the robin, muskie, and lighthouse. Coin should be in antique or satin gold - with textures in the background.

Nice looking design. Is there a way to make it so the Muskie does not look like its hung up on a cache?

Well.. the whole point is - hes snagged a cache (It hasnt snagged him!)!

Each 'item' shown has a cache - the lighthouse, the bird.... thats the intent!

Okay, I have an idea, but I could not draw it. It is a picture of a cow - it is in the Microsoft Office Clip art, standing sideways with a very cute look on her face. I thought you could change her spots into shapes that represent Wisconsin and geocaching. Remember those magazines when we were kids that you looked at the picture and tried to find all the hidden designs in them? I think it was called Highlights magazine. Anyhow the cow would be a shaped coin. Shapes like a bird, fish, cheese wedge, boat all hidden as her "spots" or if it was a round coin, then in the background hidden in trees, etc... around her would be different shapes. The idea being trying to find the hidden things in the picture, kind of like trying to find hidden caches... Smile

You have to uplaod the picture to the internet somewhere. The best place (if you don't have on-line storage already) would be to post it to a cache psge of one of your own caches. Then just use the "Img" tag to insert it in your post here.

Ok Ok I know, but the idea comes across I think. Maybe its time for some color rather than just a straight metal finish. I really like the America's Dairyland side, kinda captures the spirit of Wisconsin IMHO. On the WGA side maybe have a Badger come out from behind the state, or replace the compass rose with a Badger. Or include several state symbols like CB's submission. If its done with color the state could take the form of chedder cheese. Just some thoughts anyway. Enuff brain strain for now.

Upload the image to photobucket. Then copy and paste in the forum the [IMG] link that is located below the photo after it is uploaded.

I have an idea for a coin. Unfortunately the cost would be prohibitive. Unless of course I won the lottery. Then I could afford 2 of them. Anyway I picture a plate about 12 inches across. Decorated anyway the artist would like. The state outline would be in the center and take up almost the whole area. I see something along the lines of cinemaboxers design with the lakes and rivers. Also the county boundaries would show. Now for the cool part. The entire inlay of the state would come out and break into parts along the county lines. Ala jigsaw puzzle. The game would be to scour caches in the state to find enough counties to finish your puzzle.
Is anyone out there on speaking terms with Bill Gates or Warren Buffet?

I'm guessing puzzle pieces would have a HIGH collectability factor and those inclined to borrow long term other peoples coins may be tempted to abscond them.

In the real world most pieces would disappear. In a perfect world where we could afford to have enough of these minted to make it a viable game no one other than those collecting the entire puzzle would have any interest in the thing.
