Illinois / Wisconsin Geocoin 2007
After our Geo-event in December, we thought it would be a cool idea to have a coin made for the cachers of Wisconsin and Illinois who catch along back and forth across the boarder.
The coin will be minted in two different metals, one for Illinois the other for Wisconsin. Minting will be around 250 coins, this way they will be trackable and have an icon. The back of the coin will list the names of the cachers involved with the project, above the line the Wisconsin cachers, below Illinois.
I asked the CinemaBoxers to create the artwork for the coin and they are very happy to do so.
The funding for the coin will work like this.
The total number of coins ordered would be divided by the total number of participating cachers. We are hoping for 10-15 cachers from each state.
Here is an example.
The total cachers wishing their name to appear on coin = 30.
We have 250 coins divided by 30 and that equals about eight coins for each cacher and with the coin cost about $6.00, each person would owe $48.00.
I would like the CinemaBoxers to receive their coins free for doing all the artwork, I can figure that cost when we get the grand total.
If the coin looks to be a hit we can mint more coins, if it is a bust no harm done and no one is out a large amount of cash.
If you are a Wisconsin or Illinois resident (and catch both sides of the boarder) and would like your name to appear on the coin and participate in the purchase of the coin, add a post to this one and tell us your state and cacher name.
Here is where we need EVERYONES help.
The coin needs a motto, which will be placed on front of the coin. We need all submissions by February 14; we will then post a final list for voting to take place. The winning motto will win a free coin of the metal of there choice.
The picture here is a rough draft with a couple of added names to give a feel of how the coins will look. We will post a final after we receive the names of those wishing to participate for final approval prior to minting.
We covered a lot of ground here, if you have any questions please ask.

Hey,
I definately think that is really awesome artwork on the coin. I know I am an up north Cheesehead, and not really in the border wars, but have cached in Illinois several times, including grabbing one earlier today on the way back from Ohio.
So can ya add an up north cheesehead????? If so, List me as zuma
Thanks,
zuma |

The coin needs a motto....
United... (on top)
Beer-town to Chi-town(on bottom)
or
Summerfest to Windy City (bottom) |

Heh,heh. "Thanks for visiting, now leave"? Absolutely no harm intended . We'd be interested in sharing funding on this one. Looks like a fun idea. |

My family's been known to cache south of the border . We are definitely interested in getting our name on a coin. Count us in for $48.00.

From what I know of the project, they will be trackable, and should have their own icon.
Allwayslooking_99 can tell more about the details! |

Count me in if there is still room. I live in Janesville, and have ventured south of the border in the past, and cetrainly will do so more in the near future.
For Motto, I like Team Honeybunnies "Thanks for visiting, now leave" suggestion |

Count me in as well but I'd prefer the coin to not have team names on it....(but if my name HAS to go on it so be it). |
