My name is Maggie Moesch and I am the program director at the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters. I was given your name from Theresa, with the Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce. I had asked her if she would be willing to share the names of any local, active geocachers, so she forwarded me your info.
I am writing because on Saturday, June 16th, the Discovery Center will be leading a GPS & Geocaching Introductory class. It is running from 11-2, and during the second half of the class we are going to take participants out to try and locate the caches we will be placing around our grounds. We are looking for individuals who 1).might be interested in helping 'hide' some of the caches, and 2). for individuals that may be willing to come and volunteer that Saturday and lend a hand to less experienced geocachers.
I am curious as to whether or not you'd be interested in (or might know of someone that may be interested) in helping us with either of the above situations. Unfortunately, neither me or any of the staff are very familiar with GPS's or Geocaching and are looking for individuals that are experienced and willing to help. The gentleman teaching the class is from out-of-town, so he will not be able to place the caches himself.
If you can help in any way, we would greatly appreciate it. Also, please feel free to share this information with anyone else that may be interested in helping. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you for your time.

Maybe with the date being closer, you might realize you'll be Up North, looking for something to do.

Rats - still not going to be able to make it. For those of you thinking about it the discovery center is a old conservation camp. Back in grade school we were fortunate enough to have several "outdoor education" sessions per year.
We were treated (though at the time it was a excuse not to be in school :> ) to many excellent 2day/overnight outdoor experiences including canoing, snowshoeing, fishing, camping, cooking in fire pits, sleeping in "igloos" that we made, compass naviagation and even some basic "Man vs. Wild" lost in the woods survival techniques.
One time we slept at the discovery center and did our 2 day adventures there. I understand they have made some improvements and also hold some skiing events there in the winter.
If you do go, ask the about the cement boots near the dock, hopefully they havent removed them.
