In most households, there seems to be one person who controls the remote for the television, even if you have more than one remote.
Question: Is this also true with the GPSr? Does the same person always use the unit when out caching? If you have more than one, does one person usually do the navigating with it?
Now, is it the same person with the TV remote and the GPSr or different ones?
Discuss. |

Well, I live alone, so this was easy for me.
Did I just skew the data?

It pretty much depends on the time. Since I really don't like searching through 200 channels, I usually relegate control when "my shows" aren't on. |

Trudy handles the TV remote (it confuses me), and we each have a GPSr.
BTW Bec, living with a number of quadrupeds is not living alone. |

While there isn't TOTAL dominion over the remote in this household, it tends to be the same person who holds our main GPSr. If this Magellan/Garmin marriage has both units out together, that negates the question somewhat, LOL.
Fun poll, sandlanders! |

I, Mrs. TE, rarely ever watch tv so I hardly ever touch the remote.
We both have 2 GPSr and keep rotating them to keep them "happy" Mr. usually does all the drivng and he figures out the route and takes care of the GPSr for that part. I prefer to just use the GPSr for finding the cache.
We both have GPSr units in our hands for more time than tv remotes just about any given week.
I have a GPSr and know how to use it.

That's true. And there was the time that my greyhound had her big rumpus on the TV remote and was changing the channels on me. It took me a while to figure out what was happening there.

Naw, this stuff's not scientific like those political polls are. We built in a big margin of error for the results. We'll take into account those that live alone or with quadrupeds before we publish. |

I control both, but since I have no idea where the tv remote is..... I have not turned the tv on for perhaps 6 months? |

I'm the only cacher in the family so far with an occasional tagalong.
I tend to be the TV remote controller but recently it seems that my 10 month old son has the controller more than I do. We have tried to pawn off a non-functioning remote on him but for some reason he knows it doesn't work and seeks out the real one.
Anyone remember needing to get up off the couch to change the channels? |

My parents didn't have a remote for a long time, so when we were kids, and then when we would go back to visit, my dad was always standing right in front of the 13" set, blocking the view, and switching the channel every few seconds.
He would still flip the channel frequently with the remote, and my mom always told us never to get too involved in a specific television show when Dad was around and holding the remote. |

In my house I control the GPS but the kids seem to have taken control of the TV.
However I have another TV that I took as my own. Kids won't settle for a 19". |

With no dish or cable TV, there isn't much reason to use a remote. TV is used mostly for DVDs and Wii, so remote seldom needed.
If geocaching with my spouse (seldom happens) we both have a GPSr in hand. |

I always control the gps, but Robin generally brings hers along as well.
Right now, I dont have cable or a decent TV, so dont watch TV at home at all, so the question about the remote is moot. I prefer to get my news and entertainment from the radio and internet.
