Are there any winter caches that you recommend doing in the Milwaukee/Wauwatosa area?? Not just winter friendly caches, but caches that are better during the winter? Thanks for your help!

With all the snow around here now bushwhacking will be a challenge if you don't know your way around. We went to downtown Milwaukee last weekend to cache. There are over 50 hides in the area. Mostly micros, but a few smalls and some interesting virtuals. Lots of small parks with interesting features. The caches were only a side item to our trip as Sunshine wanted it to be a date day. We spent a while at the Milwaukee Art Museum on Lake Michigan, did our caching and the ate at the Milwaukee Ale House. Parking was a small problem in a few spots, but we did manage to find free parking on the streets near all of the caches. With the snow this might be a good winter trip now. We're looking for less snow so we'll be going to Green Bay and then White Potato Lake next week. I have a couple of new hides to place near the lake we're going to look for some of the island caches in the area while the lakes are still frozen.

Covert Cache (downtown Milwaukee) and LP009 Cache (west State St)can be enjoyed anytime. wink

Lateral Thinking isn't much of a hide, and not winter friendly, but you will burn up most of winter figuring out the puzzle(s). Twisted Evil

Lost? Boyscout should be fun this time of year -- it is a pretty good sized multi in an area a lot wilder than you might expect. The waypoints are winter friendly. Same goes for Country in the City, and Fast Action Response Team.

I realize that Pewaukee is a little bit of a ways from Tosa, but now is the time to do the Island. Twisted Evil

Finally, I Can See for Miles is an absolute trip -- bring oxygen and walking poles and pretend you are Sir Edmund Hillary!
Shocked

Funny that I read about Lateral Thinking now...I had the puzzle(s) figured out about 6 months ago, but I haven't been down there since. It has the winter friendly icon on the cache page, so I went after it...no luck.

Maybe later Mad

I was also lucky enough to find the Island this past summer.

Lateral Thinking is definitely available in winter -- with the snow we have around here, I think the average person would have a hard time finding and retrieving.

I remember going to get the Island last winter -- the ice creaked and groaned the whole way there and back.
