Hi, Just getting started here. I will be doing this with my wife and 6 year old. Looking for some easy caches in the Wausau area. Also it would be fun to find other people to go out and do some cashing with.

Scott

Howdy! We're an Oshkosh couple who should probably start caching up there sometime after, ohhh..5 years ago as we're new and are tending to clean them out starting near to far. See you in 2013! Wink

Welcome welcome!! Glad you stopped by to say HI. Feel free to converse, ask questions, etc., anytime.

As for easy caches in the Wausau area, when you do a search, just remember to look at the Difficulty & Terrain ratings (or D/T as we affectionately type) which is located at the top of the cache page, centered: 1 star, 1.5 stars and 2 stars should be easy enough. Smile Also...look at the Container size, which is located next to the ratings. Choose ones which are small or regular. Once you get the hang of those, you will soon an addict to the Micros and Nanos and the other creative containers. LOL

If you are a premium member you can choose run a pocket query and have it search out those specifically in the 1-2 D/T range.

OR as a Regular (free) member or Premium member, you can go to the Geocaching.com Home page, look to the left and click on "Hide & Seek a Cache". Once you have clicked on that, on that new page at the very top, is a box that says "By Adrress". Type in "Wausau, WI" and click "GO". That will give you a listing of caches, most likely starting at the center of town and spiraling out.

It lists, in order across the row:

    Distance
Type of cache - traditional, multi, mystery, etc.
D/T - which sits atop the cache container size
    Date placed
    Name of the cache
    Date last found

Now you can easily look down the page and go page to page to see what easier ones are out there.

Hope that helps!!

Anne aka Fu

I can't much more than Anne(Da Fu) has already stated about finding the right ones. I always figure the right ones are the ones you can find. Just get out there and have fun doing it. Enjoy making this activity fun in your own way. Sometimes a numbers run is a lot of fun, or making a special trip just for one special cache with a reputation can be the most rewarding.

Make it your game, because, well it is.

As a fellow "newbie"ish person, let me say you came to the right spot! Everyone here has been super cool and helpful! If you get in the Oshkosh / Fox Cities area maybe we can hook up for some caches!

Welcome! It doesn't have to be an addiction, by the way. It can actually be fun. Very Happy
