Woodville Biking Trail

Our family is thinking about biking the Woodville Trail this weekend. Is the trail flat enough for our six year old daughter to bike? She biked 8 miles near Hustler and did great. Do we need a trail pass? We will have 2 vehicles, where are the best spots to park so we only have to bike the trail in one direction? Would we be able to do all 40+ caches at one time? About how long would that take? Are most of the caches located near the trails or is there a lot of hiking to do also? Thanks for any help you can give us.

Yes, the trail is flat, and easy biking. No trail pass is required. The right of way is only about 60 feet wide, so all the caches are pretty much within 30 feet of the trail.

There really is no designated parking, but there is off road parking wherever the roads cross. I have parked at nearly all of the cross roads, and none are great, but they all work.

How many you find is dependent on lots of factors. An adult could easily find them in less than a day.

Most of the older caches are in good containers. Many of the newer ones are in nondurable containers by a team that has not been maintaining their caches since they were put out last winter, so are starting to disappear......

Been there, did that earlier this summer. My favorite was the one on the bridge that goes over the creek. We parked in town at the gas station. The trail north of there is all grass and the southmost 3/4 miles is all grass too, but other than that it's real easy. There's also a big hill right at the southmost road it crosses. My wife even found 2 caches without the coords. She just thought it looked like a good spot for a cache, and sure enough Smile

Great power trail though.. definately go for it!

My friends Orange&Blue, KSteve and BBaka"L" and I hiked the Woodville Trail this past weekend. We had an absolute blast. We found 35 of the caches starting in North Woodville and ending at 10th Ave. This was a wonderfully gentle walk with multitudes of creative hides that were easy to stop and find on an absolutely gorgeous fall day day with color all around us. I would recommend this trail highly for either walking or biking. Most of the terrains were set a bit higher then they actually appeared to be but that was a pleasant discovery. If one is hiking the trail we suggest you stop in Woodville and use the restrooms before continuing on the rest of the hike as there are no facilities anywhere. We parked cars on 50th and then 25th and 10th Aves and shuttled to the start.

We all said we would be back to finish the trail and pick up many of the cemetery hides in the area. Thank you to all those who made the hides. We appreciate the effort and a chance to visit Wisconsin.

We did the whole trail by bike on Sunday. It was great! There were a few hills but only at the very end was there a huge one. We may have done it backwards from most. We started in Spring Valley and went to Woodville. While there we did a handful of caches, grabbed lunch and then biked back. Our odometer read 18.7 miles on our bikes. Today our muscles agreed with the number of miles.
