OK, all works till I get to the POI Loader to NUVI part.
New GSAK (7.6.0.57) has an export to GarminPOI. This is where it all comes apart. GSAK makes a .gpi file that it appears POI Loader can't use.
Anyone had any success with this?
I guess I'm missing some steps in the process and would appreciate any help here as the old pilotsnipes program no longer works either.
Thanks,

I use a macro called GPX by cache type that I have configured to run under a button on the toolbar called Nuvi.
Here's the geocaching.com forum topic that I found pointing me to the macro. It's much better than the pilotsnipes one and has new development still going on:

Works like a charm with my Nuvi 255w with the Garmin POI loader. |

knowing that there were some issues with the Pilotsnipes macro and the new release of GSAK, I have not yet updated my GSAK.
Not sure what I may be missing with the upgrade but I know that I can load my POIs. |

Try the GSAK forums...their techs are pretty good at helping with problems or you might find a solution in one of the threads [ ] |

Yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I am using an older (read: not current) version of GSAK at the moment: 7.5.2.27 is what I am currently using.
I highly encourage anyone doing this to try the macro I mentioned above rather than the pilot one. You can put them both on and compare... The "nearest cache mode" or whatever they call the alert stuff is much better as in distance from you actually works and it supports multiple databases and splits up the caches by DB then by type of cache automatically. And someone is still developing it.
I guess I lucked out in getting this all to work. I set it up just over a month ago and I haven't had issues. |

Just an update as I have had several emails back and forth on this issue with Clyde of GSAK fame.
It appears the latest (V-7.6) works well with the Pilotsnipes macro.
I have updated GSAK to the latest version and reloaded the Pilotsnipes macro, set a new button on the tool bar and adjusted one address and WOW, I'm up and running again.
Just FYI, Clyde said the Garmin/POI export on his GSAK was not nearly as good as Pilotsnipes so suggested not using it - OK, I will not.
I'd like to try the other macro but that is for another day.
Thanks everyone.

Sorry for not returning your email DB, but I see you got the answer you needed direct from the source. Clyde is great at supporting his program. |
