The presale for the 2010 Wisconsin geocoin ends August 1st, so if you are considering purchasing a geocoin this year, now is the time to preorder. The new Wisconsin geocoin is a great traveling geocoin, or if you prefer to collect geocoins, this will be a great collectable geocoin. It will make a great Christmas gift for the geocachers who have been nice this year, or would make an awesome FTF prize. No matter how you want to use your 2010 Wisconsin geocoin, now is the time to place your order. The presale is almost over, so place your order today.

Cache Ba$h Mega Event In West Bend

Wisconsin's only mega event is coming up quickly, so make plans now to join us in West Bend August 13 - 15.

West Bend is a great place to cache, and they will again be giving away $1000 in cash prizes as well as geocoins and other great prizes. There will be more than 60 new permanent geocaches to find. Join the WGA and hundreds of geocachers from across the state and across the country in West Bend for a great weekend of geocaching. See GC1XV02 for details.

The WGA will be there Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, we will be offering a Geocaching 101 class for new geocachers. We will also be selling our new Wisconsin geocaching t-shirt (see shirt design image above). The shirts will be available in two different colors, and will cost $10 for youth sizes, $12 for adult sizes to 2XL, and $14 for 3XL and 4XL. And on Sunday, join us for the WGA Big Ba$h Breakfast (details below).

WGA Gibraltar Rock CITO & Luncheon, July 31

The WGA is hosting a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) park clean up event with the Friends of Gibraltar Rock at the Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area in Southwestern Columbia County on Saturday, July 31, 2010. This is a beautiful area to visit. Please note that there is a .25 mile steep hike to get to the top and there are cliffs in the park. Those with disabilities may be able to have access to the top during the event. The DNR will be providing supplies for removing the spray painted graffiti from the rocks.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm. Volunteers are asked to park at the lower parking lot (the posted coordinates). We will be hosting a luncheon in which we will provide drinks, burgers and hot dogs. See GC2AR5D for details.

WGA Barnes Breakfast CITO, August 7

The fifth CITO of the year hosted by the WGA will be held August 7th at the Barnes Town Park in Barnes. Stop by, grab a breakfast pastry, your trash bag and some gloves. Head out on the geo-trail picking up trash as you go.

The fun will begin at 8am Saturday morning with coffee and pastry provided by the WGA. The CITO is part of a full day of caching festivities planned by the Barnes Babes with the theme "Up North Adventures" including the Barnes Babes Cache B.A.C.H.E. II event (GC2A9KC) that day from 11am to 3pm.

WGA Big Ba$h Breakfast, August 15

Sunday morning following Wisconsin's only mega geocaching event, the WGA will host the second annual pancake breakfast at the West Bend Cache Ba$h. In addition to as many pancakes as you care to eat, the breakfast includes sausage, fruit and beverages. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12. (Individuals may attend this event and participate in the games and socializing for free but they will get no breakfast food.)

We will also have some great prizes and lots of fun games. We will again hold a GPS Turkey Shoot where the most accurate "shot" will win a new Garmin Oregon. New this year will be a "Pancake Toss" game to see who can throw a pancake the furthest and with the most accuracy.

2010 WGA Geo-Picnic, September 18

The 10th annual WGA Geo-Picnic will be held at Roche-A-Cri State Park in central Wisconsin. The centerpiece of the park is a 300-foot-high rock outcropping with Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. Also within the park are approximately 5 miles of trails and 14 existing geocaches (more to be added soon).

Plan for a "busy day" at this event because geocachers will have the potential to obtain 10 different geocaching.com icons in a single day. To make this "busy day" possible, a new Wherigo cache will be created for this event and there will be a nearby CITO activity. Other types of caches available in or very near Roche-A-Cri include Virtual Caches, EarthCaches, Letterbox Hybrids, Traditional caches, Multi Caches, Puzzle/Mystery Caches and several benchmarks.

The main feature of the event is the potluck picnic, so see the cache page for details on what to food items bring to share with others.
