Board members present at the Annual Picnic held at Lake Wissota State Park met for a short private meeting. Several items were discussed, with any action to be taken officially via the website voting mechanism. Items discussed were:
*WGA sponsorship of “Romp in the Swamp” event at Bubolz Nature Center near Appleton. Marc 5digits made this request, to have an informational booth, at least one WGA Board member present, and WGA pencils to hand out. We don’t have any pencils, but it was agreed that sponsorship as otherwise requested was a good idea. Justin will be present as the WGA Board representative and will create a motion on the website. Official vote will be placed via the website.
*WGA Winter Event. Date suggested is February 28, 2010. Location suggested is somewhere close to the interstate corridors, probably more southern in the state. Concept is to have a banquet on Saturday night, introducing incoming Board and thanking those leaving, as well as other frivolities that might arise in planning. Renee offered to check into the Chula Vista resort in Wisconsin Dells as a possible location.
*WGA Camp-Out 2010 location discussion. Ralph has put forth the idea of holding the campout at Devils Lake. Jeremy will check out the facilities and report back to the Board.
*WGA coin. We did not mint a coin this past year. Some discussion took place regarding the creation of a coin that marks the Ice Age Trail, in connection with their “Cold Cache” program. Renee has been working with Dolly from the IAT group, and will approach them about this. Jeremy suggests offering to sell coins to the IAT folks at cost, to encourage their involvement. Gwyn offered to take on this committee if we proceed with it.
*Kat’s winter event in the Green Bay area. Brief discussion about making this a WGA Regional Event.
*Some discussion took place regarding our expenses and current balance. A concern was raised that we need to spend more of our holdings, so the membership feels they receive some value for their donations. Jeremy reminded us that the need to move to a new server will likely spend some of this money.
Meeting was adjourned. Short and sweet!
