New Statistics Region Types

New Statistics Region Types
8/23/2006

Two new region types have been added to the States/County/Country Statistics module on the site, DeLorme Map Pages and US Territories.

DeLorme Map Pages

The first new region type is DeLorme map pages, which lets you record your finds on pages of the DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer for the recently announced Wisconsin DeLorme Challenge. Note that the WGA site is not meant to be the official source of results for the challenge, but we are providing the capability to enter completed map pages here to allow our members to list all their region finds in one place. All of the additional data fields, such as cache name, date of find, and log entry link, can also be specified when creating a DeLorme map page stats entry.
To easily import your initial list of completed DeLorme maps, do the following:

  • Go to the Wisconsin DeLorme Challenge website and upload your “My Finds” Pocket Query
  • At the top of the results box that appears, click on the link that says “View progress as text”
  • Copy the comma separated list of map numbers out of the completed pages text box (Edit->Copy)
  • Go to the WGA Site and click on “State/County Stats” in the Main Menu block
  • Click the Add Stats tab
  • Click on the “link removed” link
  • Set the Region Type to “DeLorme Map Page”, paste (Edit->Paste) the map numbers into the Region Names box, then hit the Add button

US Territories

The second new region type is US territories, which allow you to record geocache finds in parts of the US that are not states, such as Washington D.C./District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Some of these regions are improperly listed as separate countries on geocaching.com but will not count as such here.
