Nominations Sought For 2009 WGA Board

Nominations Sought For 2009 WGA Board
12/25/2008

The WGA is now accepting nominations for this year’s Board of Directors election. Click here to go to the elections page and nominate the WGA member(s) you would like to have serve on the Board.

Five positions on the Board of Directors are up for election this year. These positions are currently held by the following individuals:

    [*] Ralph Edwards (zuma!)
    [*] Anne Elsenpeter (Cache_boppin_BunnyFuFu)
[*] Brian Jansen (GrouseTales) (not seeking re-election)
[*] David Krug (Cheesehead Dave) (not seeking re-election)
[*] Jennifer Mode (LightningBugs Mum) (not seeking re-election)

Jeremy Vechinski and Brian Geoffrey will be assisting with the administration/execution of the election.

Some general notes about this phase of the Board of Directors election process:

[*] Individuals must receive two nominations to appear on the ballot when voting for the Board begins.
[*] Individuals receiving one nomination will be contacted via email to determine if they are interested in serving on the Board. If they are, their name will be placed on the elections page in a list of individuals who have one nomination and are looking for a second.
[*] Please do not nominate individuals who are not eligible or are already on the Board. To serve on the Board, individuals must be WGA members and meet other eligibility requirements (including being at least 21 years of age) outlined in the WGA bylaws.
[*] You are not allowed to nominate yourself.
[*] Nominations will be accepted until January 25, 2009 at 11:59pm. At this time, voting for the Board of Directors positions will begin and continue until 11:59pm on February 8th.

December 2008 WGA Forums Changes

December 2008 WGA Forums Changes
12/22/2008

A number of resolutions were passed by the Board over the last few weeks that resulted in changes to the WGA forums. These were “batched” up and introduced en masse on December 21st. A number of new forums were introduced, a couple forums were archived, and several existing private leadership forums were added to the forum listing.
The following new forums were created:

– Puzzle Caches
– Benchmarking
– Lonely Cache Game
– Tech Talk
– Geo-Campout 2009

Remember that forums can be hidden if you are not interested in seeing them in the forum listing / index. Click on the name of the forum to enter it, and then click the small “Hide this forum” link in the upper right hand corner.

As the number of forums continues to grow, we realize that we may need to come up with a better way of categorizing them or devise some sort of terse forum listing. (Ideas are welcome!)

The following existing forums were retired / archived:

– Wisconsin DNR
– Geo-Picnic 2008 (for obvious reasons)

Archived forums can still be viewed by going to the drop down menu in the Archived/Locked Forums section at the bottom of the forum listing.

We also put most of the private “Leadership Forums” in the forums listing. These can only be entered by users with the appropriate permissions. This was done to highlight the fact that there are these committees out there that are working on behalf of the WGA. Hopefully making the existence of these committees more visible will spur some interest in serving on them. There is currently no (easy) way to hide these forums (since you can’t enter them to get at the “Hide this forum” link), but we should have something that will allow this soon.
