3rd Annual WGA Picnic to Picnic TB Race

Time to sign up for the 3rd Annual WGA Picnic to Picnic TB Race. All the fun starts this Saturday at the Picnic

WGATBRace

For the 2014-2015 Race we will again ask that all Racers register for a $3 entry fee per trackable, to help cover the cost of prizes.

However, if you purchase and use a WGA Travel Tag for $7, or use a previously purchased WGA Travel Tag, we will waive the entry fee as a ‘Thank you’ for supporting the WGA.

We will have tags available at the GeoPicnic. You can enter as many trackables as you like.

Not sure what to attach to your TB tag? If you raced last year, you can attach your ‘Participant’ keychain to it and send it out! There should be no issues with recognizing that it is in a race!

We will be taking entries for the WGA TB Race III all day at the GeoPicnic on September 20th.

All TB Racers MUST start at the GeoPicnic! Plan on joining us at Lapham Peak for the green light on the next race!

1,000,000 Reasons to Get Outside Now Hidden Throughout the U.S.

1 Million U.S. GeocachesThe United States now contains 1,000,000 reasons to explore. As of 7:45am on Sunday, September 14, the 1,000,000th active geocache in the U.S. was published on Geocaching.com. The site launched in 2000 with just 75 geocaches.

The 1,000,000th U.S. geocache is call Daddy’s Fishing Hole and is located near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. To celebrate the 1,000,000th active geocache in the United States, the staff at Geocaching HQ named The 8 Most Amazing Geocaches for Beginners in the U.S.

There are currently 2,492,832 active geocaches hidden around the world. Globally, Germany is second to the U.S. in active geocaches with more than 325,000. Want even more sweet stats? Check out this Geocaching blog post to find out more, including how many smileys are earned each day (hint: it’s more than 25,000).

GC5CDBD 1 of the Most Amazing Beginner Geocaches – WI

Within a very short time (maybe this week), Geocaching Headquarters has calculated that the 1 MILLIONTH geocache in the U.S. will be active. 1 MILLION US Geocaches!

In honor of this great achievement, there has to be a celebration, so the staff at Geocaching.com has poured over all of the incredible caches and decided to honor 8 of the Most Amazing Geocaches in the US for Beginners.

Not surprisingly, Wisconsin is home to one of those 8 special caches, with the honor going to GC3K9TV What the CLUCK!  by Stewzoo1.  In honor of this distinction, the WGA along with Geocaching Headquarters will be hosting an event to recognize their achievement.

Where: Tendick Park, Saukville, WI
When: September 21
Time: 3 pm- 5 pm
Who: Open to all geocachers, families, and anyone interested in learning about geocaching
What: GC5CDBD 1 of the Most Amazing Beginner Geocaches – WI

Want to be a part of this, here is the plan:

We will get together at Tendick Park for a little celebration, including fun giveaways from Geocaching HQ. Those new to geocaching are invited to attend. We’ll talk about geocaching, what makes a good beginner geocache, get to know each other, and swap stories from the geocaching trail, maybe even toss in a Geocaching 101 class and possibly a couple surprises just for fun.

After the event, we’ll all hop in our cars and take the short drive to GC3K9TV What the CLUCK! to experience one of the most amazing geocaches in the US for beginners.

…and of course, geocaching beginners are welcome!
