Howdy there pardners! This year marks the 9th Annual West Bend Cache Ba$h at Regner Park in West Bend, WI (GC65E0M). The theme this year is Wild Wild West Bend. Being the horse and pony show we are, the WGA is going to be saddlin’ up their ponies and sportin’ their sparkly spurs while rustlin’ up some grub for ya’ll on August 14, 2016, during the 2016 WGA Wild Cakes & Stampede Sausages breakfast event. We will be gittin’ the grit out of our eyes pretty early so all you cowboys and gals gather up your lil’ ranchers and head on down to the Regner Park Saloon for some good eats and treats. Make sure to log your Will Attends early so we can send some of the BOD Members to herd some livestock while the gettin’ is good. You’re gonna be surprised as to what them Lab Boys are gonna do next while Becca Duke will be puttin’ some purty in those wild cakes. Whooo-Eeee! We promise to have something fun for the young’uns and for all you early risin’ folk. And remember, the easiest way to eat pancakes and sausages are while they are still warm. The colder they git, the harder they are to swaller. Yee Haw!

We will also have a commemorative path tag available. Details to follow.

WGA Fall Geo-Picnic, Sept. 24th at Black River State Forest

Come visit a NEW WGA venue for the 2016 Fall Geo-Picnic, Sept. 24th, at Black River State Forest.   The Cache Event page is planned for publishing at the end of June to log your “Will Attend.”

Black River State Forest Information weblink:  http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/StateForests/blackRiver/

This is an awesome recreational wonder spot with tall “standing rocks” left by the glaciers across Wisconsin.  There are 29 miles of trails for hiking, biking, another 33 for ATV motorized use, and many river miles for your boats.   This means many miles of access for caches!   We may even be able to spot one of 125 Elk, which were introduced to the State Forest just last August.

The enclosed shelter is reserved at the Castle Mounds Campground, so come rain or shine, the picnic will be happening.    Of course the picnic-themed event will have plenty of planned activities, hot grills for lunch and dinner fixings, while providing a social place for meeting and greeting fellow cachers.

The NEW WGA apparel and geocoin will be available for purchase.   Other WGA activities will be the Annual Travel Bug Race, an Open Forum, WGA Raffle, and perhaps a few new things.

The location of picnic is really close to nearby city of Black River Falls providing quick access to many services.   For more information and lodging information follow this link:  http://www.blackrivercountry.net/

For those interested in camping, this is information from the State Forest:    All campgrounds have reservable campsites with Castle Mound on the reservation season from May 1 through the second weekend in October.  The outdoor group camp is on the reservation season from April 15 through November 30. The indoor group camp is on the reservation system year-round. Go online to make a reservation or call 888-947-2757, TTY 800-274-7275.
