2017 WGA Spring Geo Campout–May 19-21, 2017–Big Eau Pleine Park-Marathon County

Shelter #19:  N44 44.466 W089 51.193    (GPS coordinates – accuracy within 100 feet)

The WGA Geo Campout will be held in the NW Quadrant this year at Marathon County Park – Big Eau Pleine West Campground. Big Eau Pleine Park is a sizeable park containing 1,450 acres of second-growth mixed hardwoods, forming a two-mile peninsula thrust deep into the waters of the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir. The majority of the park was gifted to Marathon County in 1937 by Consolidated Water Power Company.

This is a totally new adventure having our annual event at a different venue than a Wisconsin State Park. We are ready for new venues and relationships with county governments to strengthen our presence around the state. The cache page is being developed and will be available 90 days before the event, about Feb. 20th so you can log a Will Attend and place on your Watchlist.

However, with the following information below, make your reservations EARLY to ensure you have your place reserved if you want an individual campsite. The Marathon County link below will have all the information you need for making your reservation on-line.

The West Group Site will hold 200 people. The WGA has reserved this Group site for Friday, May 19th and Saturday, May 20th. Only tents will be allowed at the Group Campground.  Cost for this camping will be around $10-15 per tent for one or both nights of May 19 and/or May 20th. Details to follow as they become available.

WEST UNIT Campground and WGA Headquarters: 46 sites, all 46 sites have electricity; 2 water pumps, 2 vault restrooms, campsites with view of water, boat landing, self-registration station, dumpster, recycling station, picnic area, group campsite. Enclosed Shelter #19 has picnic tables, windows/sky lights, fireplace, covered wings, picnic tables, grills, and fireplace.
