It’s CITO Season!

We are lucky to have a few members hosting CITOs. This year again the Fox Valley is home to two CITOs and so far there are three others: West Bend, Mukwonago, and just outside of Cudahy at Sheridan Park. Check out the events list here at any time to see if there are more CITOs popping up in your area: http://www.wi-geocaching.com/events/categories/wisconsin-events/

CITO is a great way to give back to the geocaching community, and keeping our game board clean.

Changes to COTM

One topic that came up at our annual BOD meeting, was how do we get more people engaged in nominating for Cache of the Month.  One suggestion was to eliminate the quadrants, and have one Cache of the Month for the entire state, but we want your feedback!  How can we make the Cache of the Month better?  Nominations have been very few, and in some quadrants none, so we would love to see your ideas on how to improve, and get more members involved.  We will have a topic in the forums for suggestions, so please stop by and let us know what you think.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote in this year’s WGA board of directors election. We had a great group of nominees!

The votes have been compiled, and the five open board positions will be filled by Dawn Children, Lois Stedman, Jim Peterson, Robert Hamblin and Daniel Bednarek. Thank you to all the nominees.

We truly appreciate all your time and effort!

Dawn Children – 85 (21%)
Lois Stedman – 81 (20%)
Jim Peterson – 71 (17%)
Robert Hamblin – 57 (14%)
Daniel Bednarek – 42 (10%)
Rebecca Brinkmeier – 35 (8%)
Russ Whipple – 22 (5%)
Elizabeth Tidd – 20 (5%

11%

That is the number of active members that have voted so far in this year’s election. There’s not much time for you to voice your opinion on who you want to lead the WGA for the next two years. This Sunday is the cut off to make your choices. The numbers keep falling every year. Don’t let the WGA fall by not being active, engaged, or involved in an organization that has been around for almost 16 years. An organization that provides resources, funding, merchandise, and events to the members around our great state.

It’s easy! Click on the link below and cast your vote.

Please don’t make the squirrels that lead this board, or the new board, sad. Sad squirrels aren’t fun to watch or be around. We want to have happy playful squirrels with lots of energy and excitement that want to bring good things to the membership for the next two years and beyond.C6B69D43-5A2E-4629-A789-00EDC5BDB238-5360-0000031B4F15CCEC

We’re Going Places Now

Well, well, well, it seems like we’ve got a little bit of movement at the top, and quite the challenge for a lot of the other bugs. It seems our leader has departed Europe for Australia, and has racked up some serious miles in the jump. Looks like there’s some work to be done, but don’t worry, the rest of you aren’t out of it yet, there’s still a lot of time before the next picnic, and who knows who will be the next lucky bug to be taken on an intercontinental journey.

Snap, Submit, Like, and Win

Calling all shutterbug geocachers!!! We’ve had a few requests for a photo album on the WGA website, and we are poking the overfed squirrels to get them working on it. In the meantime, we are bringing back a little competition from last year that did a great job of showcasing just what kind of fun the cachers in our state are having.  It’s time for the Monthly WGA Facebook Photo Contest. Yes, six days have passed. Yes, it’s a short month. No, we aren’t giving you a lanyard.

Here are the rules. Submit a photo on the WGA Facebook page this month, and we will give the picture with the highest number of likes by the end of the month one of any number of random prizes. (Like I said, it won’t be a lanyard, but one might be in a swag pack.) To make this even more of a great contest, we will take the monthly winners and tally their likes at the end of the year. That picture will receive the honor of being the WGA Photo of the Year and receive an even better prize package. Submit as many pictures as you’d like, we want to see all the adventures of our members, even if you are out of the state. Share what makes Geocaching enjoyable for you.

Now back to poking those squirrels, they’re nesting in the servers again…
