Well Would You Look At That . . .

Was it the beer and cheese that dragged in the badger or the badger that dragged in the beer and cheese?  And why the heck is he leaning on the WGA logo with Bob’s name spelled backwards??? 🤔 We are not quite sure about that. But what we are sure of is that this limited edition 2018 WGA BOD pathtag (purchased from our own personal money) can be all yours at no cost to you coming soon. Make sure you are signed up for the summer newsletter to get your hint as to how to grab your very own from one of the BOD members. One tag per caching name (unless you are really good at convincing us otherwise).

See you soon!

WGA Spring Campout

WGA Spring Campout

We are excited about our upcoming WGA Spring Campout, being held May 18th – May 20th at Wyalusing Sate Park.

This year, we are incorporating a Mardi Gras theme!  One of the fun events we have planned is a campsite decorating contest!  So bring out your beads and masks, get crazy with the purple, green and gold, and decorate your campsite!  Participants will need to register at check in by 10:00am on Saturday. Voting will be held throughout the day Saturday, with the winner announced at the general meeting at 4:30pm. So make sure you save time to check out the campsites, and cast your votes! A list of participating campsites will be available at registration.  There will be a prize for the winner!

Weather permitting, we will also have our annual tradition of night caches.  If you are planning on creating a night cache, please also register at check in by 10am.

We will have new WGA merchandise for sale, and there will be discounts on current WGA apparel.  We accept cash or credit/debit cards. Sorry, no checks.

The WGA has reserved group campsite site C for Friday and Saturday evenings, and you can make your reservations now through the WGA store.  Space is limited, and is on a first come first serve basis. The store will close for reservations on May 15th.  The group site is for tents only, no campers/pop ups. http://www.wi-geocaching.com/products-page/

Please visit the Prairie du Chien Chamber of Commerce for more lodging options. http://prairieduchien.org/

Sunday we will once again hold our pancake breakfast.  Due to changes with Groundspeak, we are unable to hold it as a separate event.  The cost for breakfast will be $5 for adults (13 years and older), $3 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6. (Please note that geocachers are welcome to attend and participate in the social activities for free, but they will not get anything to eat.) Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and a beverage. Please make sure to note in your will attend log, if you are attending the breakfast, and how many will be in your group.

Please make sure to add the event page to your watch list, for any updates!  We look forward to seeing you!

COTM Changes

The BOD discussed COTM at great length, and based on your feedback and suggestions, we are making the following changes to COTM to go into effect as of June 1, 2018.

1. Cache of the month will be changed from 5 quadrants, to 4 quadrants, reflecting the quadrants that were defined last year. We will still have a cache series of the month.

2. We are changing the waiting period of nominating new caches from 90 days, to 45 days. This still allows many people to go out and find the caches, but it also helps keep them fresh in everyone’s mind.

We will also be promoting COTM on social media, and at events, to help draw attention to COTM. Additionally, note’s will be added to the cache pages that have been nominated for COTM.We are also working on getting the COTM past winners map and lists updated.

We thank you for all your great suggestions, keep them coming!
