Nominations for 2019 WGA BOD are Now Being Accepted

We told you it was coming and here it is:

Starting NOW, you can begin nominating people for the 2019-2021 WGA BOD. There are 4 positions available. Make sure to ask the person you are nominating if they are interested in being a part of this AWESOME group first before doing so however. That is very important. Blindsides are only allowed in football 😉

All jokes aside, who will be a good leader to represent your area and your voice? This is YOUR Association and we represent YOU. We encourage you to read the WGA Bylaws (http://www.wi-geocaching.com/info-center/wga-info/wga-bylaws/) before nominating or accepting a nomination. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any current or past BOD for insight.

And this is NOT a joke, your FREE WGA Membership must be current to nominate and vote. Log back in today to keep your membership going. Not all state groups are free and we wish to keep it that way for as long as we possibly can. Our members allow us to do that. And, we have the BEST members!

Nominations are being accepted now through January 27th. Voting begins January 28th and will close February 10th.

We can’t wait for the next exciting years to come. Good luck one and all! And, Happy New Year! May all your dreams come true.

WGA Elections

Nominations Will Be Accepted Soon for the 2019 WGA BOD

Article VII: Elections All active members may submit nominations for open positions on the Board of Directors. If two (2) or more active members nominate an individual that person will be considered a candidate for the Board if willing. A member shall not be permitted to nominate himself or herself for the Board.

Nominations will be accepted at least one month prior to the start of voting for each election, providing sufficient time to determine the candidates for the election. Nominations will be accepted up until the start of voting.

Notification of the election of Board Members shall be given to the General Membership by publishing on the WGA web site at least fourteen (14) days prior to the conclusion of voting. Voting will begin as soon as the General Membership is notified of the election.

Voting for the Board of Directors will conclude at 11:59pm Central Time on the second Sunday in February of each year.

All active members shall have equal voting rights with no more than one (1) vote per member per open Board position being voted on. All voting by the members will be handled electronically.

The candidates who receive the most votes will be given the open Board positions being voted on. In the event of a tie between candidates for an open position, a run off election will be held at the earliest opportunity.

We are also looking for an article from one of our kid cachers as well. It’s been fun reading what caching is like from the mini perspective 🙂

It’s Getting Chili

With winter imposing its snow and ice on Wisconsin, thoughts turn to holidays, snowshoeing, and CHILI! This year will mark the 10th annual WGA Chili Feed. The event will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the George W. Mead Wildlife Area near Milladore, Wisconsin. In honor of the tenth anniversary of this event, the Board of Directors has decided to bring back some of the old traditions and to try some new things as well.

For the old, we will be bringing back the traditional bon fire. The Mead has a beautiful fire ring area with benches surrounding the fire pit. We’ll have marshmallows available for roasting, or just join us around the cheery fire for fellowship and geocaching talk.

For the new, we will be holding a chili cookoff. To enter the cookoff, make a note that you would like to participate on your “will attend” log. Then bring 2 – 3 quarts of chili in your crockpot or slow-cooker to the event. Attendees will sample the entries and vote for a winner.

Chili and hot dogs will be served from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Chili will be sold for $2.00 per bowl and hot dogs will be the same price. Log your will attend for GC80MZX.
