Board of Directors Meeting Minutes February 2020

One of my goals for the year as Secretary is to make the activities of the board more transparent to the general WGA membership. That starts with posting our board meeting minutes every month. The annual meeting had a jam-packed agenda as usual, and though we tried our best, we were not able to get to all of the topics. But don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite topic covered. Anything we didn’t get to will be on the agenda for a future meeting.

Note: I may occasionally modify or remove details from the public versions. This will always be done with the full support of the entire board, and only for topics that are sensitive in nature or not yet ready for public consumption. For example, this month I removed specifics of the 2020 merchandise theme because we still want it to be a surprise!

Changes to the LCG

On February 22, 2020 at the annual BOD meeting the board discussed the suggestions that the members shared in the forum for possible changes to the LCG. Every suggestion was taken into consideration. The board has come up with two changes effective March 1, 2020. The first change is that the bonus points for replacing a lonely cache with CO permission is going to be eliminated. The second change is the bonus points for adopting a lonely cache is going to be eliminated. These are just a start to possibly more changes to the LCG. The board will continue looking into more changes in the coming months. Stay tuned.

Introducing the new 2020 BOD

On February 22, 2020 the official 2020 board of directors started serving the members of the WGA. They held their face to face meeting at the Portage County Library. They discussed various topics from what to eat for lunch to officers and possible changes to the LCG. They are looking forward to serving the WGA members. Presenting the 2020 Board of Directors

After what has been quite the interesting election season for the WGA, we can finally announce the nine members who will be taking the seats on the Board of Directors. Jason Johnston (jmj-wi), Chris Stolte (MTCLMBR), and Carson Monroe (ACME_WildCachers) will be joining the BOD for their first time. Kelly King (King54130) is returning to serve on the Board for another term. Jim Peterson (bigjim60) has been reelected for a second term. These five will join Renee Vanselow (AuntieNae), Rebecca Dauterman (graphicsgirl19), Aaron Wurster (MASKinWI), and Brian Zubowski (ZEEMAN_CLAN) to form this year’s Wisconsin Geocaching Association Board of Directors. Please take an opportunity to congratulate these members, and discuss any geocaching concerns you may have. Good luck to all the BOD and here’s to a fantastic year.

Looks like it’s going to be Chili this Saturday

The Board of Directors is excited about the Chili Feed coming up this Saturday, February 8. Meet us at the Hillsboro Brewing Company between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm for food, fun, and fellowship. There is no charge to attend, but we will appreciate any donations toward the cost of the chili. We have some great door prizes lined up. We will also have a raffle for some vintage WGA geocoins. Some local cachers have also placed some new caches for the event, which are scheduled to publish Friday evening. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there. If you haven’t already logged your Will Attend, head over to GC8H08D .

In the Know

As a few of you have noticed, yes, the candidate field has shrunken from 6 to 5 candidates for the 2020 election. We had one candidate rescind for personal reasons. And, that’s all good. We wish that person the best and can’t wait until that hat is thrown into the ring again in the upcoming years.

We have 5 GREAT WGA members that will make an awesome new addition to the reigning BOD. If you haven’t voted yet, please do so. The election will not close until the 15th. The WGA BOD will use that information to see where our voters are and do an outreach campaign to reach those in the part of the state where we have the lowest voting totals. YOUR VOTE IS STILL IMPORTANT!

To those of you that have voted already, thank you for supporting the WGA.
