Remembering Jeff Grosvold (comkelp)

Our friend and fellow WGA board member, Jeff Grosvold (comkelp), lost his battle with cancer on Friday, August 23. His welcoming smile and contributions to the geocaching community will certainly be missed. Jeff started geocaching in 2010, placing over 100 caches and events, and reaching a 22,000 find milestone earlier this year.

Comkelp was a co-host of the Burgers and Beer at 29 Pines monthly geocaching event series in the Eau Claire area. The next edition of this event will be this Saturday, August 31 at noon, and will now serve as a celebration of Jeff as a friend and geocacher. For event details, www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCAWFE2 A new virtual cache is planned to publish after the event at 2pm in the city of Eau Claire, a gift from Jeff to the geocaching community.

Is Your 2024-25 TB Racer Ready?

On your mark, get set… Though the 2023-24 race still has a few weeks remaining until the finish line at the WGA Fall Campout, plans are underway for the 2024-25 race. This year’s plans are to randomly drop off racers over an approximately one week time span during a road trip across several states. The TB’s racing mileage will be adjusted based on their initial drop point. Want to join in the fun? Drop off an activated TB with 0 miles at the WGA Booth at either the West Bend Cache Ba$h or the WGA Fall Campout event in the special TB racer ammo box, with the TB marked as dropped into GCAQ3QT as it’s first stop.
