Thanks! Caching out east was fun, although I did live in constant fear of deer ticks and west nile. So far I seem to still be alive…
It was a great example of how well paperless geocaching can work with a little preparation. Before the trip I generated about a dozen GPX files to cover all the interstates and areas where we would be and used ExpertGPS to condense those down to caches within five miles of the route we were taking, just in case we stopped at a rest stop and there was a cache hidden there.
The combined GPX file (3500+ caches!) was Pluckerized and sent to the Clie. I did find one hangup with that in that a cache that I had looked for had been disabled between when I generated the GPX file and when I actually looked for the cache.
I had the map on the GPSr (Garmin Legend) going while I was driving. SIMBO (my wife) quickly got sick of me pointing out woodsy areas every ten minutes and saying “Hey, there’s a cache hidden right in there!”
Once I found #200 in Ontario, my wife all but forced me to hand over the GPSr for the rest of the trip.
At least the view from #200 was nice!
