http://www.igotsomestuff.com/ is the official URL of the new stats. The finds and hides section of the stats is complete.
Here’s some answers to some questions I’ve been getting:
Q) Will your site get banned like the others have in the past?
A) I’ve told geocaching.com exactly what I’m doing and how I’m doing it, and they’ve told me that down the road they plan to have something that will make this easier for groups of teams to do.
Q) Why isn’t ____’s team on there?
A) I don’t have a script that gets team names just yet. I’ve entered all these teams in by hand (and then the script daily gets the stats automatically). Beast has given me a large list to work from, but it takes time getting all those names in there (I have to make sure the team name is the same as on geocaching.com). It may be quicker for me to write a small admin program and recruit some help.
Q) How come my Rate of Caches per day isn’t on there?
A) That’s something I added half way through, so I’m now slowly populating everyone’s date of first cache.
Q) Any other stats you plan on doing in the future?
A) Yes. I plan on adding a House Of Brew’s Book of Wisconsin Geocaching records of some sorts down the road. This will include facts that are impossible to extract out of the geocaching.com’s databases.
Thanks for the patience.

If you’ve got the auto-updating down without getting banned, it pretty much makes mine irrelevant! Fantastic work!

02/01/2004 at 10:53 pm #1736717That’s pretty cool Brew! Can’t wait to see more of those rates filled in!
02/01/2004 at 11:03 pm #1736718Two big thumbs up !! I’m not much into stat, but this is really cool. I like how it matches our website so nicely
02/02/2004 at 1:18 am #1736719Outstanding work!! I have been watching the page progress and between this morning and this evening the page appearance has taken an amazing turn for the better.
I ask that the board members please consider making Brew’s hard work an official part of the WGA site.

except it shows how lazy I’ve been these last 6 months (grins) I have cabin fever sooooo bad right now and no way to do a ‘getaway’ because of my home improvement project.

02/25/2004 at 1:43 am #1736724I know I’m a little behind on this note of thanks, but I just figured out (with some help) how to post here. Thanks for the great stats. That is really neat. I put the stats for my hides in a database and update them manually as necessary. I have an Excel sheet that automatically gleans the info from the database but I still have to manually send that to the website. I really enjoy the interactivity of your pages also.
Great job!
02/25/2004 at 2:28 am #1736725As soon as I get a few hours, I”ll be updating to include other series (like the president series). I have my proof of concept almost complete, and just need to do some initial data entry. Thanks for the compliment!

House Of BrewDear House of Brew,
Name rings a distinct bell. Have we had lunch together? Cool tricks with stats gathering. Help cure my ignorance about the team name stuff between geocaching.com and wi-geocaching.com … I started out with the same username. Now I think I have things set up so I have the same team name on both. Not sure though. Can you shed any clafifying insights?
Thanks,
Steve K -
